Do you hover your arms and/or wrists?

or do you rest them on the keyboard/desk/chair-arms?

I'm trying to improve my posture. Hovering my arms or wrists feels weird, but I see some people do it in videos. I'm curious about speculation on this stuff.

I used to always do it, that was my play style
Now I'll usually do it if I'm really into a game

I do when playing semipent one handed and split.

I do not for regular spread for some reason.

Re: Do you hover your arms and/or wrists?

if you want better posture keep your shoulders down and hover your hands with most of the force going downwards rather than snapping up or craning the fingers/wrists from a resting position. however i find it really hard to play precisely like that so i tend to rest them unless i'm on a good high-up chair (which i don't have)

                    rest 4 life
also for some reason "arms down wrists up" makes me think of that goreshit kesha song lol

edit: upon further inspection, I raise my left wrist all the time while keeping my right wrist down, and when a [12][34] repeated pattern shows up i raise both wrists

                      rested for control(jacking)/accuracy/stamina
                      lifted for speed

I never really had any speed so I've always played rested.
But I've improved enough to hold my own on faster songs lately, so my arms have instinctively adapted to the hover, which has helped me significantly.

                        is pretty darn accurate.

Rested... but if there's a pattern that requires fast wrist-jacking or something similar ( e.g Husigi Usagi Milk Tei's [14] jumps or do i smile? red wall ) then I'll lift for that part.

Lifting for me I find is quite stamina-draining since I do not have much stamina to begin with... It's also difficult for me to switch my position mid-song. So... most of the time I just remain rested.
