    Funkin Up

aka CBR Does Dubstep in a Blues scale at 145bpm haha

    https://soundcloud.com/cbr/funkin-up

I think I really succeeded in the sound of the bassline, even though its a really simple progression (note and LFO-wise).
Dubstep requires a surprising amount of filters on stuff to sound good imo.
(read: EQ, reverb and even distortion on kick, snare and bass.)

Once again its just a WIP / demo / experiment in trying to make certain genres, or to create a certain type of sound, but I still hope it's enjoyable!
There is no genre out there that I will refuse to try to create, regardless of the results, provided it's possible via electronic means :3

PS: Bonus points for me for NOT using Massive for the bassline? Feel free to guess what I used instead.

Nope, not an FL plugin at all. Also do people actually make dubstep with those? I've heard a very few use 3xosc but never wasp.
Seems more effort than it's worth tbh.

definitely succeeded with the bass, but the percussion's really lacking. it's either the samples used or the mixing that's at fault, but they're really weak and tinny which is the exact opposite of what you should be going for with this genre

ps blues scale aka best scale

hm kick hits at around 120 hz and has the low-end shelved out so the bass can shine through and the snare sits right at 200 hz plus they both have subtle reverb, but not too much wetness so they sound "snappy". any tips to make them less tinny perhaps... mixing is usually my stronger point so yeah : ((

i'm not sure if it's the mixing that's at fault, might be the samples used. then again, I'm not exactly a dubstep expert, but compare this kick/snare to the stuff milla makes (although this snare is probably a little too heavy in the low-end but whatever it's still a good example) and you'll see where i'm coming from

If that link doesn't work, play Rokits

Edit: "ass up" is all wasp too
