It might even be stupid for me to even ask, but has ANYONE had experience with Decca as far as permissions gets? I mean really, like 90% of all LPs/CDs of classical music in the existence of ever were produced by them, and one would figure that getting at least one perm from them would allow a lot of people to access their music (particularly music for piano) and thus a whole bunch of good-quality mp3s to step for the genre beasts like Moussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition or Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit. Especially if they gave blanket permissions for a prolific artist, like Horowitz or Ashkenazy.
... I should probably explain a little bit more. I just recently stepped Chopin's Nocturne in Eb, Op. 9 No. 2, and I just used my recording of it because it has fantastic sound quality and fantastic interpretation (Ashkenazy was the artist). That and I'm lazy. Before I can even delve into the pre-pre-pre-submission stuff, I need to get perm from Ashkenazy via Decca, and unfortunately, Decca's TaC doesn't list an email at all, based on my quick but thorough googling. Soooooo I am currently floundering for options.
