    DJ Kankaoh

I just wanted to say that DJ Kankaoh's choice of mixing programs (EJay) was a bad choice on his part. Itried to use it, but all my songs ended up sounding the same. A tip to him: use FruityLoops! It's more open-ended, has WAY more choices in terms of mixing, speed (BPM), instruments, and effects. Come on, Kankaoh! take a step up!!! :P

Fruity Loops is weak. Buzz is better.

Dude, all those programs are weak. Buzz is a joke and FL sounds crappy unless you find/buy good VST's and use them with it. Reason 2.5 is where it's at for the electronic stuff. That's what I use. If you wanna hear examples, check my page. (However Soul Shift was not made using Reason). Check out "Contradistinction" and "ICO: Save Me". Both of those were made using Reason and I submitted FFR edits of them.

Hahah. Reason is VERY scary when you first get it. ALL THOSE KNOBS!! But if you read the getting started manual and look at the demo songs it comes with, it all starts making sense really quick. It's not tough. I was amazed with the quality of the first song I wrote with it ("Contradistinction") after only having the program for about two weeks. Dive in for a few hours one day and you'll start figuring it out. Once you get the general concepts, you'll find that everything works together in similar ways. But, that's just learning how to work the program...learning how to make sweet tunes takes a lot more time and practice .

Reason is a nightmare when you first see it. My school has a computer with the whole reason setup on it, and I decided to play around with it, except I didn't realize I had to like create a mixer, and there's so many options...but you can do whatever you want with it. I made a kazoo techno song just for fun. I made a sitar punk rock song. You can do absolutely whatever you want - there's no constraints about the bpm or what the instrument sounds like or what time signature the song is in.

Where do you get reason, and how do you work buzz?

                Signature subject to change.
