What amazes me about autechre, aphex twin, flashbulb etc, is how they can manipulate sounds into whatever they want it to be...

i dont think its very fair to compare flashbulb to the former two imo. stuff like autechre's confield easily blows away benn jordan's entire combined ouevre in regards to technical ability

they all make cool music tho so doesnt really matter

confield is one of the few albums I haven't listened to lol

oversteps is my favorite currently, untilted and draft 7.30 are tied for a close second

my personal favorite is lp5; it is their most focused (imo) release, and is the refinement of the early sound they were beginning to develop after tri-repetae. after that it's probably incunabula and draft 7:30

i usually use confield as an example of a work of electronic music that can compare to the greats in other genres (jazz + classical) in depth and complexity, but its mainly impressive for its sound engineering and layering

"Rob Brown mentioned that Incunabula and Amber retrospectively sounded "cheesy" in a 2008 interview with Pitchfork Media prior to the release of Quaristice."

tbh I never could really get into incunabula, although it might have something to do with listening to stuff like quarstice and oversteps before incunabula

I can't bring myself to step any autechre either rofl, I was briefly stepping plyphon but scrapped that

yea lol i can only imagine how hard it would be to try and translate autechre into coherent, fun, stepmania patterns
