    Mend My Broken Heart

So I was in this odd, melancholic state of mind today which caused me to decide to pour my emotions into a song, this being the result.

PS: This took 4 re-renders because mixing was off between the kick and bass every single time.

I think it would have been better without thew singing. Not to insult you singing ability or anything, just think it would sound better without singing.

No insult taken, I'm well aware of my inability to sing. Instrumental can be arranged and posted.

Edit: **** it, Vocal version removed -> Instrumental Posted. Enjoy

Mild autotune (the standard one for FL10 is pretty damn good) combined with a sea of reverb for your shitty voice to swim through can make even mediocre vocals sound pretty decent.

This sounds very nice, the excessive reverb sets a nice mood. I really like the leads as well, although the higher frequencies should probably be toned down a tad. Would've liked to hear the vocal version. :I

You didn't miss much, really, just where the cymbal crash around 1:30 is was:

          "Mend my
          broken heart
          can you
          make it alright"

with autotune and some de-essing repeated twice until 2:00.
Shame it still sounded bad mainly due to not having a proper microphone. (and soundcard but that isn't a must)

I will promise to re-record this once, or rather if, I do get a proper mic.

PS: Thank you for enjoying the song, really makes me feel fuzzy inside coming from a successful artist such as yourself.

If your mic sucks, put some distance between your mouth and the mic so you don't get any distortion or popping or whatever and then use noise reduction to get rid of all the hissing before you normalize. I dunno what you use for sound processing (Adobe Audition has always done what I needed it to and then some) but I expect Audacity can do this stuff as well.

It's also worth experimenting with harmonizing vocal tracks. If you purchased the crazy cheap experimental plug-ins for FL10 back when they were in beta, you can use Pitcher to automatically create a harmonizing track. You obviously have more freedom when you do it yourself, but if you're feeling a little lazy it does a pretty decent job.

Also, I wouldn't call myself successful yet, I average like a hundred plays per song. >_>

Something about this isn't quite right for my tastes. Feels like the kind of song I should enjoy.
I think it has a little too much high frequencies. My head starts to ring.

Nicely done. I can get the feel of the song that you were going for too, I think.
