Hey Luis, I've been actually following your adventures a bit on FB, and I was quite shocked to see you suddenly in Italy, but wow, talk about going places! (and not just physically)

I'm very glad to see you quite literally living the dream. Thanks for the update!

Re: I'm Now a Film Composer

Thank you everyone for your kind messages :') I've read them all

Some things that I've learned with this program that I want to share:

                    1. Time management/priority system: We had just 5 days for each project. Very little room for second-guessing. We need to have acceptable MIDI mock-ups with high quality sample libraries, but at the end of the day what matters most is the score and parts and proofreading them.

                    2. Story is everything: The music needs to compliment the scene. That goes without saying, but I actually failed to do this on the first version of my Big Fish score. I'm embarrassed to say that the OG version had like 10 seconds of waltz/circus music in the beginning, lol. One professor said that he was legitimately concerned that my music didn't fit the scene, but that same professor heard the second version and said it was "lovely" and a "home run" in terms of storytelling

                    3. Non-music skills: There's millions of other artists out there. It's important to stand out against the crowd. Things like social skills, empathy, sense of humor, really do matter. I made a huge mistake on all the parts for my orchestra piece by writing the movie title where my name should be. The bass player famously asked Pete Anthony, "Maestro, who is Kick-Ass???", and without hesitation I said it was me. All three of us just had a moment of laughter before the recording session and it became my nickname for the rest of that day. What was initially a royal fuck-up became a memorable inside joke just because I embraced my mistake with humor.

Again, thanks everyone! I also hope to score for video games too so I plan to study both film scores and video game scores. Hoping to keep in touch with y'all <3
