Re: Super Bowl XLIX Thoughts
the fact of the matter is that when that play occurs, there's still a whole other half of regulation to play through -- a risk that allows for repair a bit later is substantially more worth taking. Shooting for a big pass at the end of the half was somewhat risky, but they retained possession starting the next half anyway, so there wasn't exactly a huge amount of potential for backfiring. Not the best playcall for sure. Not gonna lie, though, I thought the pass play at the end of the first half was nearly as bad of an idea, and they got 7 points out of it. Guess we wouldn't be talking about it the same way if they had scored there, huh? Bad playcall though. Haha.
An absurd statement, lol. Enjoy your night though!
that last play is not even about risk, it's simply common sense: you don't pass the goddamn ball in the red zone (mind you, at the 2 yard line!?), behind in score with less than a minute to go. there's literally no discernible reason to ever do a pass play there.Last edited by TC_Halogen; 02-1-2015, 08:36 PM.Comment

The above post has a 50% chance of being useless. Potentially. Maybe.

Devil's advocate: a lot of pass plays take longer than what they had left on the game clock at the end of the first half. Taking the field goal there is arguably the percentage play in the same way that not throwing the ball at the end of the game is the percentage play.the fact of the matter is that when that play occurs, there's still a whole other half of regulation to play through -- a risk that allows for repair a bit later is substantially more worth taking. Seahawks needed 4 points on their final drive; you must get into the end zone, and the defense knows that. Patriots should be putting just about everyone in the box on that play (leaving a receiver or tight end open), because nobody gets fancy enough to throw the ball when they're starting near the goal line with seconds left to play in the Super Bowl, right? ...Right?
The only thing I can say that I honestly believe is that the outcome shapes our perception of the playcall. ...The devil's advocate would be losing this argument pretty hard, though.

Re: Super Bowl XLIX Thoughts
weirdest part of halftime: singing beach balls
best part of halftime: badass giant lion puppet right at the beginning
worst part of halftime: no obligatory rap verses (missy cameo doesn't count but was cool anyway)some feathery f**k
