Also Shinji from Evangelion but I mean it's like one character picks up on one particular aspect of what you're looking for while the rest of the anime is completely different xD

I had already watched Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui (catches my breath) and most of Welcome to the NHK. The first anime is kind of interesting and fits my description, but the main character's personality is a little too dark for my taste, and I don't like the humor too much. Welcome to the NHK is more about becoming a productive member of society than trying to become more outgoing and to make friends.

I just watched one episode and half of episode two of Tatami Galaxy, but I would rather watch an anime that doesn't involve fate or destiny and relies on the main character's own free will. In addition, I don't like how the timeline is reversed every episode, (or at least the second episode) because I value continuity and want consequences to always stay that way. I thought it was funny the first few minutes because the anime speeds up whenever background information is mentioned, but I don't enjoy the anime as much when I have to concentrate just to keep up with it. Thank you for the suggestions, though; I'm glad I watched these anime.

I must say, Drizz, that you are searching for something that seems.. Almost like trying to find a Unicorn; Impossible and mythological. In saying that... I absolutely love your persistence and determination! Keep at it!

Thank you! Even if I don't exactly find the kind of anime I'm looking for, it's still fun to watch new anime and develop an interest in some of them. This is something I've been looking for in an anime for awhile now, but I haven't made the time to actively search for one until now. I'm glad this thread motivates me, and I hope I find an anime I absolutely love to watch.

Where is it that you watch your Anime? I watch at one called DubbedEpisodes. I know the title is a bit misleading, but it also has Subbed, even more so than it does Dubbed series.

do you have a list of what you've seen? i was also thinking watamote or NHK but you've seen them.
i was thinking Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, but it's different. The main character is bored with his life and he gets kind of depressed over it and ends up in a situation that he hates at first but then he makes friends and realizes that the situation changed his life and he gets happier and finds motivation.

Tsuritama: The main character is socially inept and he gets really nervous, he ends up making friends with this alien fish guy (DON'T EVEN ASK, JUST WATCH.) and he realizes that the friends he makes are really important to him. it's a cool anime overall, with a weird but interesting story, funny, and it makes you feel happy somehow.

I really don't think there's many that fit this exact description better than the ones you've seen already.

Hmm.
How about Eve no Jikan (Time of Eve)? It's only 6-7 15 minute episodes so even if you don't care for it you weren't heavily invested in the first place.

Thanks again, everyone. I'm caught up with school now, so I haven't watched any anime further than Kimi no Todoke. I'm planning to watch all the suggested anime in order, so I probably won't get to the recent anime in this thread for awhile. I'm still planning to watch all of these anime, and I appreciate that you are still posting new anime to watch.

No, I've probably seen about 200-300 anime since I first started watching Cardcaptor Sakura, but I haven't kept a list of the anime I have seen. I do have a list of the anime I've started and want to eventually finish, but that list only has about twenty-five anime in it.
