Play the whole Mass Effect trilogy that should keep you busy for a few days straight
If you like RPGs and Mass Effect 1-3 isn't enough play Dragon Age Origins (don't even think about playing DA2 though holy fuck EA buttraped that franchise so hard with the sequel)

Also +1 to KOTOR (literally the best game I've ever played cannot recommend it enough) and KOTOR 2 (good game but you have to use the fanmade patch or else the games fuckin broken)
And +1 to Mirrors Edge that game is great

i've heard nothing but good things about this game. literally everyone has been recommending it, but the thing is i was never really into star wars. you think that i will still enjoy this game? i got it regardless because its so highly talked about. im just worried that my not so extensive knowledge of star wars might turn me the other way.

I can second Dragon Age Origins, NOT DA 2, DA2 IS A SICK ABOMINATION I WANT TO TAKE BEHIND THE SHED.

If you like "scary" games, resident evil 4 would be my top choice for the series, then 5. (Only because it's recent)

I knew next to nothing about Star Wars before I played KOTOR.


The game turned me into a Star Wars geek. I'm serious. It inspired me to go read more backstories and rewatch the movies to see what I was missing.

So no you don't need to know anything about Star Wars to appreciate it. Having watched a movie or two beforehand wouldn't hurt but honestly, it's a good enough game to stand on its own. That's part of why it's so impressive.

sooo after downloading and installing quite a few of these games i thought i would give my opinion on some of the games i have played thus far. excuse the grammar. its late here, and im tired x_x

lego marvel super heros: i know i said i already had this game prior to asking for suggestions, but i literally just installed the game before making this thread. that being said i have been having a blast with this game. first let me say it is HIGHLY recommended that you have a pc controller as playing using the keyboard is awful. thankfully i have a ps2-ish style controller. this game has tonnnns of playability. i played for about 5 hours and i only completed like 4% of the game. it has every single marvel character you could think of which got major nostalgia points from me. great graphics, great game play, fun puzzles, and the story and cut scenes are fantastic. totally thought this would be more geared towards a younger crowd, but its great for all ages.

orcs must die 2: i did a quick youtube search of the gameplay of this seeing as i have never heard of it. when i found out it was a tower defense type of game with a 3rd person spin on it i was definitely on board to pick it up. if you are into tower defense games i would highly suggest looking into this game. although let me say that this game is extremely challenging on higher difficulty levels, let alone just playing on the "easy" setting. i love the fact that you can choose from 2 different "classes", with each having a different play style. all of the towers you can upgrade are really awesome too. and although i asked for single player game recommendations, the co-op multiplayer mode of this game looks super fun. graphics are great. level design is awesome. if you're looking for a challenge this game is for you.

i honestly didnt really give any of these other games a try yet. i really wanted to give mirrors edge a go today, but for whatever reason i just cant seem to get the game to run :[ it crashes whenever i try to launch it. hopefully i can find a fix soon. ill add my thoughts on the rest of the games you guys suggested once i give them atleast a couple hours of play.

Orcs Must Die 2 was given to me by my brother to try out, and I liked it for pretty much the reason you said. And I've only done Endless and Story on OMD2, but yes there are options for multiplayer (like multiplayer endless is fun as fuccc) but it is a difficult game which is what I love about a game. Apprentice Difficulty is like a Normal Setting, while the others are Hard and Very Hard (haven't tried Nightmare yet)

I highly recommend those games to the fullest extent. Howeveeeeeeer..............

The very first one, First Encounter, can get stale really REALLY fast.

Don't Starve is a pretty fun casual experience for like 1-2 hours at a time. Also very cheap.

To add-on for Torchlight 2, I'd recommend Synergies Mod for it if you were to get into it heavily.

Much more challenge, mob spawns amounts increased GREATLY, 2 new finished classes, 2 WIP classes, Elite/Hero mobs, every mob has a random affix stat attached to it, some Embermage class skills are changed atm from vanilla.

Then there's all the level 100 endgame Tier 0/Tier 1 content, meant to push the limits of stats, builds etc.

It's quite the thing to give a feeling of challenge unseen by some other games
