Head over to the FFR Batch Forum for all the details on how you can get your file into the game. The Artist Permissions forum section will help you find out if FFR has permission to use the song your file goes with.
Well, vgmp might be the only time when you can find non-anime music by good stepauthors like hi9hi90hih0hi0h0h0h and kommirsar.. and all of you others here which i dont remember now except Richard Dreyfuss, he is THE BEST author.
Simcity 4 OST delivers some sweet tunes too! They are pretty long though, many between 5-7 minutes..
But everyone here have probably played the Dragonforce Packs, so length should not be of concern..
And yes, I'm not totally against japanese music, if anyone likes megaman1-6+9 and suikoden 2,3 und 4 or 5 then you have my moral support if you are stepping it!
Just for ya, gonna find some japan kawaii game and look for something that sounds strangely of SHARPNELeeleka

Games like GTA.. They have an official soundtrack.. but do their songs count? I mean they are videogames.. but some songs in the games were written way before even videogames was an idea on a blueprint..
GTA San Andreas includes the sweet tunes of Eddie Money!
Two tickets to paraaadiiise! Ive got two tickets to paradisseee!
Would you packs your bags and leave tonight?!
Cheesy, yes! But when it goes on the GTA-radio and you have a bike or fast car and it's a sunset.. Then you have to be cheesy!
I don't think lisenced songs are okay, since they weren't made for the game in question. Now if a pop song was on a game and it specifically made for said game, I'd be okay.
I would say no, because he's featured as a Radio DJ in the game. These Open World games are shady territory, because I know games like Red Dead Redemption have great, original sounds. But games like Saints Row or GTA 5 have original songs too. It's 50/50 I'd say. You would have to tell us which song for approval on if it would fit in the pack. Like, if it's the title, or credits theme or something specifically for the game, that would work.
EDIT: Nevermind...One of the files got corrupted somehow and all the work I had done on it was undone somehow. FFFFFF. Second time that's happened to me. Getting really annoying.
Your StepMania folder probably lacks writing privileges so I cannot write data to the Songs folder, therefore it is unable to write your .sm file when you save even though it says it saved? Give the folder and all subfolders permission to write/rewrite files and see if that helps.
Oh that, well you probably should move your stepmania installation out of a program folder, since it'll save everything in a "compatability files" section of your computer (just click on the compatability files tab on the top of the window when in the simfile folder).
Problem was I was doing it from my work laptop and it was exactly as Ossa was describing. I was able to recover the files by pulling from the AppData cache and work from my home desktop. Yay.
