This has saddened me a lot, however things like these happen daily over the world, and they are usually even more atrocious, yet they never get all this concern. Why?
It blows my mind that people, including you, cannot see why this incident would be a bit more concerning to Americans.
"Running is a mental sport...and we're all insane!"
Learn to run when feeling the pain: then push harder.
however it is completely reasonable for americans to be more sympathetic and more emotional about an attack that happened within their country. they are more familiar with the location, the circumstances, and the people involved
if a house in my neighborhood caught on fire i would be much more concerned than if a house in another state caught on fire
Yes, however it is still unclear who did this attack. It could have been a psycho or someone who had a reason to blow up bombs on the marathon, why is it necessarily an attack on america? It kind of implies something from the outside was behind the attack.
100% honest the tragedies that we inflict on other nations as acts of "war" or "protection" or whatever are equally if not more fucked up, it's just that when something happens here it's both a lot more readily apparent + a lot bigger deal in the weird bullshit that passes for news here. I agree we should all be equally horrified by the shit we do elsewhere to innocent people, and that keeping this sense of fear + empathy in check for when our country does it to other people is important, but maybe now's not the time to worry about it, yknow?

I saw a flyer on a bulletin board at school asking for high-functioning aspergers/autism people to participate in some kind of experiment, and all I could think was, that sounds like a great place to meet girls.

I never self-reflect, and therefore, I have no negative thoughts about myself. However I am also aware about my successes.
Confirmed to be bullshit. I think it's kind of funny that the media fucked up so badly though.
