Nope, those files are awesome, if you suck at them that's your problem. They are the best files in the game, they shall remain there forever. Maybe if you were a good player the bg, off sync, and poor charting wouldn't be an issue.

I really wish something would be done about these files, completely pointless to play. I doubt anything will ever change with legacy files which I don't understand but I support this thread. but yeah honestly wish they were just removed from the game.

If anyone is wondering: It doesn't take long to create a new .swf so getting a level without the background up is easy -- the spinning rectangles are videos integrated into the .swf files. Of course though this is only if staff allowed the files to have the backgrounds removed.

Personally I think qqwref's solution is best if FFR wants to preserve the legacy files.

Honestly that's the best approach to quell any complaints people have.
Make them optional, don't force us to trudge through shit.

FFR IS all about having fun, and if playing the songs upsets you, don't play them... yes I know people have goals involving Avg rank, AAAs etc, and that's fine, and I also know that people find bgs distracting (I personally don't aside from ones likes Marisa and Party 4u [neither of which is in Legacy]). I guess qq's solution is the most action I would like to see... maybe even creating each Legacy file as a token/skill token (I know its a bit impractical, but I'm just tossing ideas out).

I suppose moving them to their own section is an okay solution, but if that happens then some other things need mutual changing too. (For example, bumping down Here We Go token requirements to 90% or even 85% rather than 99%, bumping down Quick Draw to 40% or 45%, and so forth)

If we get rid of the Legacy files, then I won't be able to show my mom what video games I was playing in 2004.

As more songs are added this will eventually balance itself out, I see no need for changing any token requirements.
These tokens have been around for a while and they're getting easier every month, so why would they change it now?
It would just be unfair to those who have already unlocked said tokens.

                        Re: legacy files to alter!

Definitely support this. That no-background mod exists because the files simply aren't fun to play. Anything that makes reading harder is just a bad gimmick that shouldn't be considered part of a song's difficulty. Even the few intentional exceptions such as Marisa, Wisest, p4u, IMO should be scorable on without their gimmicks.

Moving them to a Legacy level ranks would be nice, but doesn't solve the problem that there are a bunch of songs in the game that just aren't enjoyable at all.

                            Site preservation.
There's still a lot of people who would like the option to play them, could be purely for nostalgia or a challenge or w/e.
Probably a bad comparison but back when I used to play Runescape I remember everybody bitching about how much better it could be, then when the newer runescape came out and they closed the classic servers. Everyone whined, bitched and complained they wanted classic back, eventually Fagex gave in and reopened the classic servers.

Moral of the story, just because it's outdated doesn't mean we should throw it away (unless it's dairy), just move it elsewhere.

Indeed, like 90% of FFR isnt enjoyable and a majority dont even have bg's to ruin them, they are just straight up bad. Lets just take them all out, they are only making the game look bad just as much as the legacy charts.
