I'm happy the games stick to their original ideal and I'm honestly excited to see how this one goes. Because this is going to make or break the series.
I for one think the designs of the new legendary Pokemon is clever for the Y but the X one is rather lacking (the deer.) Reason being deerling and the musketeers (who I didn't like that much beyond Virizion.)
But I'm curious how the new game goes I'll be trying to get my hands on it when it comes out. Black and white / bw2 where great in the direction of the game and if it keeps improving like that it should be awesome.
What were you expecting, a classic FF? 5th gen was > fine. It's mostly our fault for playing games that need to be written down to 11 year olds when some of use are more than twice their age.
when i was 11 i played ruby/sapphire
they didn't have to make the map a fuckin straight line and give me 5000 items and heals everywhere
What is up with all the bashing? Almost everyone is being negative, with the exception of like three people. More than one person saying they wont get it just because it's on the 3DS. I don't even understand why getting a 3DS is considered a bad thing? Why own any console? Just because it is cooler to own certain brand ones?
"I don't want to be seen with a 3DS"?
If you want to play games, you need to buy the console they are on, and emulation of the more recent games (Piracy) is sometimes the reason we can't have nice stuff because essentially that's stealing from the developers.
I honestly think that this is a good direction they're heading. A 3D environment and 3D battles are things I wanted for a while now. There are hints in the video (the mirror) that your character can be customized. You can also see that some 1st gen pokemon will be able to be found in the wild, such as the part where you see the wild Pikachu.
The reason they always make new pokemon is because I'm sure you all know that a game that kind of focuses on catching them all, a lot of the fun comes from seeing new pokemon and what they are like. It might have reached certain levels you call absurd, but it is done to keep the series alive.

yeah I want a hard pokemon game, but then again, the only reason I go back is so I can have a break from Lunatic difficulty games that I play a lot of the time lol

Every old-*** argument against the new games sarcastically debunked in the space of 5 minutes or so.
Enjoy, haters.
Myself, I'm finding that BW2 is actually DIFFICULT. Yeah, I made a few mistakes, skipped a few trainers, and generally have myself to blame for struggling vs. certain bosses. But the non-Unova leaders tournies are kicking my ass.
I kinda sniffed a 3DS exclusive when they came out with the Therian formes for the genies, but I don't think I'm going to get this. If BW2 was this hard, XY is going to BREAK me.

Apparently it's "ZURR-nee-us" and "ee-VELL-tall" for Xerneas and Yveltal respectively.
welp not the first time I've had my brain smashed against the wall by these pronunciations. I still call Rayquaza Ray-Quahs-aa instead of Ray-Quays-aa lol

Graphics wise this looks great, but every new generation just seems more and more abstract so I don't have any high hopes for this generation either. Generation one and two (one more so than two) had a "naivety" and simplicity to them that they haven't been able to match with any of the later generations. The later generations just look more and more abstract instead of resembling a typical creature, or in the cases that they do, they look overly polished, lacking of character. Not sure if this is because of the time period they were created in (1996 v more recent times) or because they're running out of ideas, but it feels like mario/megaman/sonic vs next-gen realistic games (like crysis). Yes, the main character of crysis looks really good and well-polished but there's nothing really interesting about the design that makes it memorable, whereas sonic, mario or megaman are really memorable because of the simplicity and "naivety" of the time period.
Also, I want a fucking real-time pokemon battle game already, where you can control and attack with pokemon like in a 3d platformer rather than turn based static screens. I'd be all over that shit
edit: Froakie haters gonna hate, I think Froakie is the cooler one of the 3. Fennekin is cute, but generic cute and Chespin is just generic. Froakie has some character and looks more unique than most other pokemon of later generations imo.
