Re: Legally Free Indie Music Blog
For duders who want to promote their discoveries, today's a good day:
He doesn't have an FFR account, so I'll be the FFR rep, I guess. All questions about reviewing releases and recommendations can be PM'ed to meOriginally posted by MarcoQuite a few people contacted me about publishing a review about those bands, while others contacted me for a way to write a review "once in a while" without being part of the bigger picture for the blog.
How about this:
If you like the band you found, and you want to give them some promotion, write a review and post it here or send it to me via PM.
Some "rules" we need to consider for that though.
- make it about 250-500 words long, if longer I might need to cut parts.
- You can attach a recommended score , but we reserve the right to adjust the overall score slightly depending on comparable bands we already posted on the blog. If you think the record is a 4/5, we wont make it 1/5 just because we feel like it, but we know the other releases posted so far and I think its important to have other releases of the same genre on a comparable scale. Consider that when going for a certain score, we also need to do that to counteract anyone who might just want to push his own band with a 5/5 review.
- If the review is nicely done (It doesnt need to be the most eloquent literary piece in history) and the music is fine, we'll post it without further ado, but of course we won't promise anything and we reserve the right to internally vote on whether something might be published.
- You'll be credited however you wish (by nickname or real name or even your own blog)
I could make up a small list of do's and dont's if anyone wishes, but I am fairly open-minded about what might go into a review. If you are using a bit of common sense and especially try to consider what might be a fair score by checking out a record from the same genre on the blog, you should be fine.
How does that sound? I know the "reserve the right whether it might be published" sounds a bit ... eh, and you dont want your review writing effort wasted. We'll comment on almost every release posted in the thread, and if Gabbo or I make positive comments about it, its an almost safe bet that we'd love to have someone writing a review for it. So, if you are unsure: Post the band, wait for an okay, and then write the review (or even write a review on something that already has been commented).
If you are unsure about a review, style, information etc, contact me via pm. I'll try to help.

Re: Legally Free Indie Music Blog
basically it sounds like we post a bandcamp page, you give us the ok, and then we submit the review? that's simple enough
