I don't really get the need for this thread. Taste is all subjective so discussing it in this way will just result in:


Generally I stay away from artists who I don't like the music of because you could also just.. not listen to them.
In my opinion, the only thing that would be justified is constructive criticism, which I see very little of in this thread. Lots of "gaga is bad because she is" in this thread.

And the people who claim an artist is a crap artist because they are bad rolemodels (ex. Miley Cyrus). You need to get your heads out of your asses because that's probably the worst excuse ever. Not only does that not detract from the talent that they possess, they are simply humans trying to have fun. They're not perfect and they do make mistakes, just like the rest of us. It's just that the entire world is there to watch them when they do.

Now I'm not saying we should all just be happy and shit rainbows, but you should at least back up your statements with something more intelligent than just "haha bieber sucks because he's so young".

Simply basing your opinion on someone based on a factor that they actually can't control does not work.

Katy Perry is good when she doesn't try to hit notes as high as Mariah Carrey. She has a voice that more suits her as an alto, not a soprano. But I give her credit; she hits the high notes without sliding into them. She just goes right to the note like a piano.

Oh please, Justin Bieber is marketable. Think of it this way: the Twilight movies are godawful, but they roped in millions of screaming girls because they got Robert Pattinson to appear dreamy while he's half asleep and they just didn't make Taylor Lautner wear anything above the waist. The majority of the awards that Twilight won were of the "______ Choice" variety. It's a money-maker, so the industry keeps pushing it.

Justin Bieber is also a money-maker with his divine hair and divine voice and I'm sure his shit flies gracefully from his ass to the toilet and smells of freshly baked banana bread so, talent aside, his record company and anyone who supports him will want to keep on bringing in the dough. Hell, he has a movie coming out in 3D. Screaming fangirls will flock to that, they'll pay the higher price, and they'll enjoy it so much because they get to stare at their purported husband--and anyone associated with him will pretty much be in ecstasy because the runnels of money will keep on coming.

Subjectivity regarding talent aside, he's worth keeping around if you're a record company. It's that simple.

I think this thread has good quality, until the "all hardcore music total crap" post, not one generalization of genre was made, and that's a feat in it's own when discussing "bad" music.


Also I would like to add 3OH!3. Did anybody say them already?
