Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Juggling is an essential part of brawl. There's a reason characters have three jumps and can airdodge at any time. Even in the "How to play" video it tells you do this. Your argument is lame. It simply is saying you don't support skill. It takes skill not to get juggled. It also takes skill to perform juggles. Lol, I can't believe i actually responded to this lolIt's annoying when people defend this, LET THEM BACK UP! It's easier to hit them when they're unable to fight back, trying to get back on the stage after getting hit, which is the only reason you assholes (half the Brawl community) do it. Random dumbass Brawler: "Well, it's their own fault for getting knocked out" **** you idiots, you're just too much of a bitch to continue fighting so you have to knock him out before he can actually throw a punch, and why? So you can win, what the hell's the point in winning if you spent the whole match luring him to the edge and knocking him over again and again? Random dumbass Brawler: "He should learn by now" well, if he sucks that badly, just fight him, he'll learn more that way, and you won't look like a pussy. If this applies to you, I don't want to hear your argument, you're a ***, and juggling is the same thing, dick. Random dumbass Brawler: "You just hate it because 1. you can't do it / 2. you can't handle it" I can juggle and edge hog and bitchslap any one who tries to do it to me, it's just no fun. If you're good at the game and you juggle, that's the only reason you win, otherwise you wouldn't do it.
Hell even the computer edgegaurds. It's a tactic that even the developers acknowledge. So... Stop sucking lawl.Last edited by Shamo0; 04-8-2008, 01:41 PM.Comment

Nice job contributing to the thread.Originally posted by robertsonaShoe and Flaming, stop postwhoring.
My quick opinion about edge guarding... I'm probably missing something about the definition of it, but...
If your goal is to win, I don't see why you should let an opponent you knocked out back on to the stage. If you've been fighting in the middle, say you land a strong smash attack that makes your opponent fly off to one side of the stage. Why wouldn't you rush over to the edge and knock them back farther? If they can't get back on the stage, they won't be able to hurt you. (If they used their up-B to recover, they wouldn't be able to, anyway. If they only jumped, they'd be able to counter your attempt at knocking back.)
About the "you should have learned by now" argument... I don't see what's wrong about it. If your edge-guarding opponent has killed you several times by you getting shot off from the edge, why would you keep falling for the same trap? Lure your opponent away with long-range attacks, or roll around the player and throw him in to the middle.
Just to make sure I'm understanding this... "Edge guarding" is when they only fight at the edge or something, to make it easier to smash someone off the stage? And "juggling" is not letting someone back to the ground?
[offsubject]
(This all being on Melee by the way).
Three kinds of attacks annoy me. Down As, standard As, and of course, long-range grabs. When you throw an enemy up, they will often down-A back at you. When you roll around them, they'll turn quick and pull out rapid As. I'm not good at avoiding those continuous A attacks like Mr. Game & Watch's Green House. When you come near an enemy with a ranged grab, they are often likely to pick you up before you can land a blow.
Link appears to be really easy to play as. He has a strong down-A attack, a side-A with an extra swing, and a ranged grab. Despite always playing as Falco, I was able to defeat a level 9 computer (yes, Final Destination, no items, four stock) just as easily with Link, who I rarely play as. Surprisingly, the only character, other than Falco, who I could knock off the opponent twice before being killed once was Zelda. But I wasn't as good when it came to two opponents.
Question:
Anyone know a good tactic to counter long-range grabs?Last edited by Silvuh; 04-8-2008, 08:51 PM.Comment

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Ok now that's just stupid.
Letting people get back up?
What idiot would do that?
Items rock for this since you can throw them off the stage while they're trying their best to get back up and finish them off =)Comment

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
ook i thought you were talking about hanging on the edge so the oponent can't comeback (english issue again) that's what i don't like...but what you guys are talking about is something that's usually common sense to do in smash since the days of N64Comment

Read again Random dumbass Brawler, I already said "I can juggle and edge hog [as well as anyone else, probably better than you can] and bitchslap anyone who tries to do it to me, it's just no fun [winning if that's all you do]".Juggling is an essential part of brawl. So I'm sitting here in my desk, I took out the little Instruction Booklet that came with the game and nowhere in the booklet is there an objective page stating: The Reason Why We Made This Game is to Win.

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
I guess I'm an asshole... Or a tourneyfag. I love to juggle, I love to edge blocking and I love to cliff hang.
Juggling took me forever and a day to learn how to do it almost perfectly, edge blocking took forever to master and cliff hanging was something I did to begin with.
Do you have a problem with people who knock you off the stage then meteor smash you down?UNLEASH THE DRAGON

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
To answer djshox question, I post here because I like talking about brawl....it should have obvious to see that.
Letting people back up: I do it to give the person the chance to kick my ass. Why? It's cool to let that person know that I could have throw them off the stage any time, but I spared them......plus it's more fighting time. Usually when they get back on the stage, they go crazy and fight harder. I played some matches online and when I let them back on stage, they fought harder.....try it once in a match just to see what happens.
Juggling: Anyone can do it, it gets up the percentage very easily and it's harder to get out of. I don't see it as a skill because ANYONE can do it. If you can’t, or don’t, then good for you.
robertsona :"Shoe and Flaming, stop postwhoring."
I wouldn't be talking, compare your posts to ours, you have about 800, I have 50 something.
I wish I could play everyone here and online match to show you how I play. I'm not saying I'm the best player ever, I'm sure some of you can win against. When I get better internet that actually lets me play more than 1 match every week, I'll put my brawl code up or whatever.Comment

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
I find it fun for letting a guy get back up and go crazy.....and why are you comparing a game to reality? If you knocked down a guy with a gun, chances are, you'd get your ass shot before you do anything.Comment

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
meteor smashing i think is a better way to eliminate your enemy than cliff hanging >_> in my opinion that's just cruel XD (because with meteors they at least had the oportunity to scape). or just hitting them right in the face when they try to comebackLast edited by zidart; 04-8-2008, 08:54 PM.Comment

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
I post because I want to.....like I don't have a good reason for it, other than I do it because I'm bored and have things to say and I want to hear the reaction of other people......I'm sure that's why everyone posts. No I meant posting in general.
Juggling does require skill, and if it hasn't been noted before, it takes skill to escape being the victim of juggling.
Brawl/Melee aren't games where it's somehow cool to "spare your opponent some mercy." Like Squeek said, it makes the match annoyingly longer, especially if your opponent keeps getting sent flying off the stage every time and you're just wasting time letting them get back on each time.
I have near 7K posts, does that mean I'm postwhoring?
If you put it that way, sure avoiding a juggler (most brawl players) takes skill. "annoyingly longer" is what I like in a match. I fight for the thrill of testing my brawl skills, I just like fighting in brawl.
7k......yeah I guess so, I was just saying that because he/she seems to be the topics I'm onComment
