While this thread is still active, what program do you guys think would be best for beginners, yet still giving enough experience to work with more advanced programs down the road?

I have FL Studio and I really can't make much sense out of it other than the piano roll and adding VSTi channels.

Not personally, but my best friend has tons of experience and is gonna teach me when she comes back she's gonna really help me out.

          Heres a suggestion.
try making a discription of each and every music program so we can pick one the suites well.

If you're friend has experience and you want to do it, then go ahead. I'm not sure if SONAR has a demo, but if it does you should try it to make sure you like it first.

FL is the easiest DAW I know of.

I've been using frooty loops for years now, and I have to say that in my opinion, it's the easiest software to start out with, if you want to make techno/hip hop... for anything else, i would say garage band, for beginners. Truly there is no one perfect program. It depends on what you want to use it for.

i want to do a remix, but i dont want it to just loop, so whats a good easy and free program you would recommend?

                    I was afraid of that

I found someone willing to teach me the features in FL Studio, thankfully. I generally don't have trouble learning the features of programs.. I was able to figure out Macromedia Flash and animate with that quite easily, same with Adobe Photoshop, but FL Studio is just way too complex, and in a field I don't fully understand yet.

I wouldn't call myself an expert on fl studio, but I do have a respectable amount of experience with it. I would be willing to explain a few thing to anyone who is curious... aside from that, I could point you to some good tutorials.

Hmm I just actually made one song in FL. It sounds nice and all and I had some critique on it but I'm sure there are a lot of things wrong with it. It's my first time using this program... actually, it's my first time creating music period. I looked at some YouTube vids on FL and some hints and tips but they move too fast and don't quite explain things (even though most of the things I messed with I found out for myself).
