i could also see myself as a Snowball, only my reign would lead to prosperity... not being attacked and killed by KGB dogs.

I despised the Red Wheelbarrow. Also the plum poem by the same guy. Memos written to your wife should not count as poetry.

Brave New World was an amazing novel. I read it twice before I realized it's probably the only futuristic book I've ever seen that has no mention at all of computers--that made me like it even more.

1984 I did not enjoy, mostly because I don't like rats. And it was eerie to me as a kid when I read it, and now the reality shows with their everpresent cameras have made many of its scariest parts a joke. But Animal Farm was awesome. By far one of the best books I've ever read.

Ack. I am not posting this after Tassel because I am following him around. It just happened that way. Honest.

ive always found it amazing how animal farm was able to smash such incredible meaning into so few pages. it left me gripped, but also wishing that there was more text to read.

I read Animal Farm way back in 6th Grade. It's true. Communism requires a totalitarian government, and that defeats the philosophy right then and there. Damn.

How is an 8th Grader supposed to do an oral report on that damn thing?
Because I had to. But when I finished the book, I was like "WTF wuz teh point of taht???" so I switched to Raisin in the Sun at the last second.

Seriously, it's this nagging question that won't go away.
I read it this year, it's pretty easy to relate to communism if you think about. If I had to do a report I'd compare the theme of the book to communism.

I actually really liked the book when I thought about it that way.

EDIT: You know, the whole loss of individuality, being completely ruled by the government or higher power, everyone is equal and recieves just enough to survive. Basically the opposite of capitalism, in theory it's the ultimate solution, but due to the nature of humans... not even close.

I somehow did it.
Haha, that poem rocked. And by rocked, I mean I dont remember what it was about...something like communism and chickens..?

I <3 1984 and Animal Farm. And also the satire essay he wrote on how to make a cup of tea.
