Oh, ok. Cuz if I am not mistaken, Vista ****s with the global offset and makes it hard to have correct timing. But since you don't, I guess you just have a very acute ability for noticing off timing.

      2. hit F7 to turn assist tick on. the sound used is C:\Program Files\Stepmania\Themes\default\Sounds\ScreenGameplay assist tick.ogg if you want to change it to another sample

      edit: **** you guys

Yeah, there are a lot of stupid options that are on by default. As well as great ones that aren't on and should be. He nailed most of em there.

Yeah, FFR is kind of..dying for me. I am at a road block where I can't get better for some reason. So..I'm going to try to get into SM again and see if I can't slowly raise my speed up a little so when I get back to FFR, I can go from 1.75x to 2x and do better.

          We'll see what happens.

Well, I do suggest playing SM to get better at FFR. It seems to have helped me. Plus, it is fun :P
But, going from 1.75 to 2.0 doesn't mean you will get better. I mean, I play 2.0, but I think most people play 1.75. That includes people who are way better than me. It is really just whichever you like better.

2.0x in ffr is about C650-700 in stepmania

Is that what it equates to? oh. That would be why I can easily read 2.0x. Cuz I play C825 on SM.

IIRC ffr at 1.0x is about C300, but ffr has a smaller vertical window compared to stepmania so you raise the equivalent cmod on stepmania by a bit

Increasing your speed mod won't necessarily make you any better, but if it increases readability, then you should see an improvement in skill.

And I would cut the silence out, but then everybody who gets a file from me is going to complain about it being offsync because they're using an offsync assist tick. And, rather than try to explain to each one of them, I'll just use a global offset since... well, that's what it's for. But trust me, I've thought about cutting the silence out.

I have to set a global offset to my SM when I test my files out because I'll hit everything out of sync.

Still, if it helps you, go for it.
edit the sound file that patashu mentioned with audacity, remove the silence and then export it as a wav file since not any bit of silence gets added to a wave file while mp3 some silence will get added, and then replace that with the ogg file. No redir files need to be changed either.

edit: nevermind now that I see your last post lol

Well sorry for jacking your thread but seeing your questions were answered, I'm gunna do it anyways. Well heres the problem, I got a new computer, it had vista, everything lagged, so now I have XP. When I had Vista everything in SM worked fine but it was laggy. Now that I have XP everything runs smoothly but I can't make it windowed, when I turn fullscreen to windowed and press enter it goes back to fullscreen :\. Any one know how to solve this?
