Mezzotinto (jacobvl39) [7/10]

PERMS OK
SYNC OK

58.813-58.976: The quantization here is wrong. Also a bit odd to have a roll up to 59.180.

1:02.848: Should be a 48th.

1:27.550: Ghost note. Check for similar occurrences.

1:27.590: While it's Ok to simplify the quantization, do note that many of the 32nds in this chart are actually one 96th off. It's increasingly noticeable during gameplay due to the instances where sounds are precisely sync'd (see 40.892, 59.031, 1:02.618 and 1:55.647 for example). Some places it's not even 32nds, like 1:33.052. Do consider integrating the 96ths swing.

1:32.264: Ghost note.

1:32.373: Missing note.

1:36.802: Slowdown here to 24ths.

1:44.465: This roll and 1:44.628 are pretty different musically. Bit odd to have the same PR.

1:46.993: Missing note.

1:49.764: Missing note.

1:53.025: Missing note.

1:53.351: Missing note.

1:53.677: Arguably, this one could actually be omitted.

1:56.245: Ghost note.

1:56.327: Missing note.

2:02.441: Ghost note.

2:23.440: Bit mean, could go on col 3.

2:27.753, 2:28.406, 2:28.569: Missing notes.

This chart is fine. While there's an argument to be made for not using the 96ths swing, there are inconsistencies to check out. Overall a fun tech chart though. With a little clean up this could work.

Mezzotinto (jacobvl39) [8/10]

- Perms, metadata, sync are good

0:58.772 - Flam?

1:10.471-1:10.512 - Mirror placements? Different sound than 1:10.308-1:10.348

1:24.370 - 48th not 32nd

1:28.487-1:28.813 - Pretty awkward on the right hand, subjective though

1:31.442 - Ghost note

1:31.503 - Arguably ghost as well, you didn't place these notes in the previous submission

1:32.808 - Arguably not mini jumpjack. The sample here slightly gets abruptly cut here compared to the other minijacks, subjective though

1:57.590 - Very subtle note. Arguably ghost

2:28.935 - See 1:24.370

This file has substantially improved from the first submission! Love to see it. This is looking a lot better and is good to go. Great work on this.

I think I will need some more time to deal with this. Based on what Oppie pointed out, I see there's quite a few rolls throughout the file that are 1/92nd off. If I change them all it will make a lot of the bursts tighter which could increase the difficulty. It will also take multiple passes through the file to make sure I'm not missing any spots.

I'll have to give this a try and then playtest extensively to make sure the bursts didn't get too much harder. My hands are too sore to play now so I need to take a break for a few days and then try it. Alternatively, I could just change all of those spots to 32nds.

This will require some explanation. I found that quite a few of the drumrolls actually are 92nd swing, but in many cases it's hard to tell that they aren't straight 32nds unless you carefully examine the waveform or slow the song down. Then, there are some drumrolls that aren't swing, but they are 1/92nd later than you'd expect them to be.

I tried re-stepping them all as literally as possible and found two problems.
1. some difficulty spikes are introduced as the swingy rolls are not as manip-friendly
2. it breaks my color theory, since I intended the yellow and orange to indicate drum rolls and the purple and blue to indicate buzzy sounds

The solution I came up with might not be to everyone's liking, but here are the rules:

1. if (by my subjective judgement) it clearly sounds "swingy", I step it literally
2. if it's technically swingy but doesn't really sound like it, I step it as straight 32nds
3. if it's not swingy but "off" by 1/92nd, I step it literally and then re-color it to look like 32nds

This looks good to me, smart fixes. Deam will confirm if the changes are good, please be patient.
