Salad for Your Tuesday (Ultimate Mike7) [4.5/10]

PERMS OK
SYNC OK

I respect the attempt at making a something interesting out of an Extremely repetitive and dragging song with very little instrumental complexity at all. That being said, and while it is undeniably a major improvement over the v1 (which is some of the most terrible content FFR has), it still suffers from being far too repetitive and uneventful. The jack spikes essentially make everything else filler.

Notable elements to mention:

57.073: Multiple occurrences like this where the heavy bass kick is layered but inconsistently. Here it's a jump, but 56.002 and 57.288 for example are single notes.

1:01.038: Whenever there are (12) jacks transitioning to (14), there is a significant spike in difficulty due to the forced 8-notes longjack.

1:16.252: One of many instances where the layering is inconsistent. Here there is no jump, but it's the same as 1:15.609 & 1:15.931. At 1:26.538, that same sound on the 8th is now a jump, but 1:27.073 loses it.

2:08.752-2:10.466 & 2:15.609-2:17.323: These jacks are incredibly difficult relative to the rest.

Overall this does not meet the necessary standards, but it's a cool take on the absurdity that is the v1. Obviously the song dictates a good part of the charting here since it lacks so much complexity, so the rating is not necessarily just for mistakes, but especially for the fact that there's probably nothing decent coming out of this song, playability wise.

Playtest Impression, 1.0x Rate - Difficulty feels too unbalanced to justify the jumpjacks

I’m not opposed to the idea of this…….

26.431, 1:24.716 - Probably want to move these two minijacks to separate hands
57.073, 58.788 - Suggest removing these jumps that aren’t for melody here for consistency, there’s a lot more bass here than just these would suggest
1:01.895 - 1:08.752 - (somewhat subjective) Lower layering here feels a little weird in comparison to coming out of the climax jacks
1:41.323 - jump
1:57.181, 2:01.466 - jump
2:09.181 - 2:09.931, 2:16.038 - 2:16.788 - This left-hand bias is kind of a lot
2:22.466 - no real reason to not continue the bass layering scheme here

Now the elephant in the room, the jumpjacks like at 1:00.181…
They’re honestly hilarious. But you’re not going to get away with them.
You can keep doing the jacks you have in other similar places like 53.323, but then just add in some eg. drum layering. It’ll still feel highly climactic but it’ll be a better, less rude approach.

Also watch for stuff especially like the 2:09.181 note. A few other clean up spots too and this could definitely make it in the game. This song has always made sense to me to be a jack chart, and you’re absolutely on the right track here. Just needs refinement.
