oh lawd it's a longboi ._.
73.920/76.920 - why not make jumps like 70.920/79.919/81.419
115.732/115.825/140.107/140.201 - snare jumps?
130.919 - jump?
143.294/repeats - these minijacks are an excellent choice A+
289.638/289.826 - ghost-ish notes/suggest removing these to better follow guitar
298.919 - oh man framer "RNG" is going to make this section (and 508.062) so weird to play lmaoooooooo I love it
341.562/341.776 - make jack for PR
394.437/395.187 - no minijacks? (is understandable to control overall difficulty but I think with smart patterning can include and use the drum fills in the next section to boost difficulty in what is essentially the climax of the song)
404.000 - stays 16ths to 404.375
489.593 - random missing note? Seems debatable, I lean on including for flow
You sent an (almost) 10 minute file, so you get an (almost) essay bonus.
I'm all for adding more longbois to FFR (and have contributed to this cause myself). I'm hesitant to suggest cutting this simply to get another longboi, but a cut would probably benefit the chart as a whole. I suggest beginning to 313.919. That would still be a decently long chart. The file starts to feel pretty different starting here and the rest of the song could stand as a part 2. Part 2 would then benefit from being able to add stuff (eg. minijacks in the section mentioned at 394.437 above and the more interesting drum fills at 419.187) that was ignored in the full version to keep the difficulty consistent.
The whole chart as is does have some interesting quirks, but they get buried in the length. The file does need a fair amount of polish but imo the errors are realtively few and minor given the context of the length.
The question is whether the file is solid as one piece and whether FFR players would enjoy it. I can see an audience for the whole file. The file is rather proficient technically (and improvable with tweaks). But to me, this one isn't elevated to the simply outstanding level some other longbois are. That's not saying this is a bad file. It's soundly made, with appropriate considerations for a consistent difficulty and overall feel in the nearly 10 minute playtime. To me it has definite highlights, but not consistently so. It's somewhat questionable as a whole, and I still think the best course of action is to split this into two separate files. But it's cohesive enough to be left whole if it gets lots of polish.
I don't feel I'd be entirely justified in rejecting this. And I don't feel that making acceptance conditional on a cut+polish is appropriate either. Probably the most conflicted accept rating I'll probably ever give.
Well okay after some more playthroughs, it's starting to grow on me a lot. It still needs polish, and the difference between the first half and the second still feels noticeable and slightly jarring. But I think it'd be a perfectly fine addition to FFR either whole or in two parts.
tl;dr: You wanna make it 2 files? It's k if not but do fix up plz
*Note that starting with the May/June 2021 batch, two judges will review each file. Ratings are not final until both judges have posted their notes and the file status is updated.*

storn42 - Black in the Burn [5.5/10]
Syncing [*/3]: (2.5/3)
- Syncing overall is fine for the most part. I would relook at some of the gallop patterns just to make sure that they are correctly and accurately mapped.
Playability [*/3]: (1/3)
- Highly recommend cutting out one of the verses. File is too long and very repetitive to enjoy.
- A lot of the stepping decision making made behind emphasizing more subtle percussive parts of the song is not very intui7tive play-wise, leading players to feel confused by certain parts of the song.
Technicality [*/3]: (2/3)
- 51.045: Not sure what 12ths are being mapped to.
- 127.919: I don't agree with [14][23] jumptrill here, specifically the 8ths.
- 136.638, 140.013, 140.576, 141.138, etc.: Why are these jumps?
- 142.544: I don't agree with [14][23] jumptrill here as well, this time the first 16ths.
- 142.919 - 166.919: I don't hear the minijacks.
- 178.919 - 225.419: Verse 2 repeats. Previous technical review at corresponding parts apply
- 274.169 - 274.919, 298.169 - 298.919, etc.: Not incorrect, but I think it's worthwhile to point out that this is the primary issue with too high of an emphasis on putting jumps for very faint percussion; it overcomplicates parts that don't seem immediately intuitive to the player when playing the file.
- 275.669: Don't hear 24ths.
- 294.044: A lot of those 24ths seemed filler to me.
- 375.312 - 376.062: Ghost notes.
- 423.875 - 442.063: Minijack into quad a couple of times seems unwarranted here.
- 472.063 - 474.313: Right hand bias seemed unwarranted and steps incorrectly suggests that these are the same sounds.
- Chorus repeats, previous technical review at corresponding applies.
Recommendations [*/1]: (0/1)
- 48.420: Although technically correct, it's interesting that the vocals (which is the primary source of music) received less attention than the guitar and percussions. I would personally remove the 24ths.
- 119.482, 120.982, etc.: Why does this receive less attention than 114.607 and 114.982?
- 272.107 - 273.794: Missed kickass guitar solo and missed opportunity to add more variety to your chart.
- 274.919 - 280.919: I think this and all guitar solos in the file should be isolated in the chart.
- I personally would minimize using color theory due to how subtle some of the colored parts are. They're so subtle that it isn't worth using color theory to distinguish those parts, in my opinion.
Rating [*/10]: (5.5/10)
- Overall, I believe that there seems to be too strong of an emphasis on subtle percussion over the more apparant audio ingredients (vocals, guitar solos, etc.) that better characterize the song. There are a ton of missed opportunities in capturing those components to create a file that could potentially be epic. Instead, this high focus on percussion makes the file extremely repetitive and unfun to play overall. The length of the file also suggests that a cut is in need, especially if your primary focus is on faint repetitive percussion.
