Soccer Players...

Some kids at school started calling me and my friends "grass-fairies". We aren't gay (dont even know if I can type that, and not trying to be mean to those of you who are). Why is that a generalization for soccer players???

Dude, seriously, just ignore them. Just remember that you are playing the most popular sport in the world (Proven fact) and enjoy all the t-shirts you see in Eurosport.

Besides, I doubt the other FFR members would care much.

I play a lot soccer. Acutally all I play is soccer as an outoor activity. I've never had anyone make fun of me.

i played soccer for 8 years, stopped for 3 years or so, then was inspired by the world cup so i played another year lol

seriously i play soccer just in P.E but you can call me Sucker when we play lol cause i can't do tricks on the ball but i can kick the ball up to the goal fer sure lol

I never heard that generalization, sorry. But, you might want to remember that the people that make fun of certain things would look like total jackasses if you had them at least attempt doing what you do.

I played organized soccer for 10 years. In high school, it was one of the lesser fall sports (golf and CC were the "forgotten" sports, so one step above them). What you do is just keep playing and ignore the comments.

Hey, sometimes these people come around. My senior year, we actually had our own students-only fan group called the "Hooligans". They brought drums, used face and body paint... it was insanity-and-a-half. Nobody ever did that at the football games. We had the best soccer fans of any high school team in our conference, and I'm fairly sure a good chunk of the country.

I've played soccer most my life and never heard an insult like that just for playing it. Around my area is practically the biggest sport, anyway like most other ppl said - just ignore them

Ah, the chanting crowd = D. We always make one at the rival games (When my brother was playing), and I've learned that if you're catching the attention of cops/rent-a-cops, you're job. If I ever get a chance to play high school soccer in the future, I'm definitely joining in.

I believe that it was the '06 MLS Cup I went to. We were walking around and getting signatures (By the way, my brother's name is Edward Johnson, and he got to meet Eddie Johnson. He was pretty psyched = D). About half-way through it, I heard some loud chanting. I looked along the pathway, and saw the LA Galaxy crowd, with the leader of the pack wearing a "Pope" hat with Galaxy colors. I couldn't believe that I got to experience the MLS Cup in real life, and not on a TV screen.

Also, we have a football crowd [at our school] that does this, and boy do they get rowdy.......

My school is a football school. Our soccer team does not have bleachers, but the football team has room for 2000 people. We are annually in state championship games, but soccer went 1-11 last year. About the only fans who show up are the parents.

Basically, if you play soccer in my school, the populus assumes you weren't good enough to play football, the only "real" sport apparently. So insults like that are thrown around a lot.

Your school is interesting. Some soccer players play football, and vice versa, including the star football player. Hell, I doubt that some people even know that he's in band.
