My up arrow key on my dell no longer registers anything.
because of this I am forced to learn a different playstlye. Say hi to someone who is finally gonna learn spread. No I am not happy about this. Now wheres that mapping keys with pictures thread. If there's a keyboard out there with flat keys that can connect with a ubs someone let me know. I can't replace the KB on my laptop though.

Excuse me, do you tango?
|
Well, that sucks for you.
Can't you use the numpad or something instead? Or use keymapping to set yourself up somewhere. |

arrow keys to numpad isnt THAT big of a transition esp. if you keep using left and down on the arrow keys.

My Logitech keyboard is usb and the arrow keys are very flat. Maybe that could be something to look into.

Very unexpected...
Knowing your PA, I can't wait to see how well you play with spread. |

I switched to spread from 1 hand when I made this account a month ago, I know how you feel. So far I'm progressing pretty well, I think my best "would have been" score was getting 3/4 of the way through 20031023 with 4 goods. You were a little better than me at 1 handed, too, so you should progress even faster.

That being said, you're right that it still isn't quite the same because the rest of the keys aren't aligned the same way as the arrow keys are. If your keyboard is like mine, a possible alternative would be to use a key mapping program to set the F10, F11, F12, Num Lk or Delete, End, Page Dn, Home to act as the directional arrows for use in FFR. Up and down will be directly over/under each other instead of angled, but the keys are a bit smaller than the arrow keys. On my keyboard, it looks like a similar key alignment exists for `, 1, 2, F1 and 1, 2, 3, F2, if you wanted to try those instead. If you're used to using things like hjkl for directions (like you can do with vi/vim and probably other Linux/Unix programs, or possible some rogue-like games), mapping the arrows to those keys would probably be another good choice. However, I kind of doubt many people are used to using regular letter keys for directional control, so this probably won't help much. I'm not sure what USB keyboard would be a good replacement. I've never used one myself. Hopefully you can find something. One possibility, though I don't know if it will work, is a portable keyboard like the ones used for PDAs. Maybe the connection is totally wrong and this won't work, *but* I expect those keyboards are similar in design to a laptop's so if it worked, it might be good. I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck with learning spread or finding an alternative. I've tried two-handed play before, but don't have the patience to stick with it.

It shouldn't take you too long to adjust. I switched from one hand to four finger in about a week of playing an hour or so per day. Good luck

Day 3, I didn't get to play FFR on day two because I couldn't figure out why ffr wouldnt load. Found out today it's because my firewall is gay.
![]() Funny, I was able to cut almost everything in half.
