PSP ups and downs
When I got a PSP, it was practically zenith! I was like OMGOMGOMG!! IT HAS AN ANALOG STICK TOO!? But, since then, I have noticed a few downsides.
STARTING OFF, the PSP screen isn't a hard material, which suck really bad. Couldn't they have made it out of polycarbonate or something that is more scratch-resistant!? Past that, you have the game selection. Not a single game can keep my attention for a half an hour. Its really odd. But, lo and behold, I believe that the PSP IS worth the money, and it is going to be UBER PIMP once the game designers get used to the new gaming system, and games get really good. If you noticed any other downsides, or you want to tell us all, for the millionth time, some of the good things about the PSP, shoot now. I just wanna know what your opinions are on this gorgeous game system |

RE: PSP ups and downs
O.o you'd choose a DS over a PSP? At least say why!

RE: PSP ups and downs
Wow. Harsh.
Unfortunately, I think he's right. As far as game selection, and even moreso sales, DS is ahead of PSP right now. Of course, that may likely change, but Nintendo has a lot of good games lined up, and I'll be perfectly content with my DS when they come out. I may very likely buy a PSP within the next few years, however. It all depends on how it works out for the system in the future, both games and hardware. I'm still leery of it's very limited durability. Drop it 4 feet onto a hard floor, and, well... it still works, but the UMD drive doesn't exactly go back in all the way. I want to see a new model that can endure a little but more, without the need for protective accessories.

What does that have to do with anything, anyway? It only means that they've both sold more since then. Quote:

Tnyhwk does have a point about the games, although he did forget to mention WarioWare. Also, I only counted 8 PSP titles with a score of 80% or higher ( www.gamerankings.com -This site takes reviews from mags and trusted sites and averages them together).

One thing I noticed... DS won't have on-line capabilities. PSP Will... That closes it for me.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: PSP ups and downs
it has a black-screen connection, in which ONLINE and IN RANGE are 2 different compatibilities.
DS<PsP AND SPEAKING OF GAME SELECTION how long has PSP been out vs. DS? I really think that patience is the issue here. People were saying how bad PS2 sucked vs. DreamCast because of the game selection. DreamCast got wiped off of planet earth when PS2 hit 1 year, and had over 150 games. I think the game designers are just tampering with some experimentals, and the good games will be hitting market soon enough. plus, they're making Advent Shadow for it right now (sequel to advent rising Xbox) aaaand they're dubbing Advent Children to UMD only! *kneel and bow, kneel and bow* unles Nintendo starts aw game set, they're going to be another dreamcast. |

I don't think DS<PSP. I don't really think PSP>DS either. DS=PsP. They both have teir +'s and -'s.

I say this only because I haven't scroungeed up the money to buy either, Thus, preventing me from supporting either strongly.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: PSP ups and downs
DS has innovative, drastically different ways to play (note the touch screen and microphone, and two screens total). PSP has better graphics, and many different non-game functions (music, movies, etc.).
It really depends on your preference. What do you want in your portable game system? Personally, I just want to play games. It's not much of a hassle for me to bring my CD/MP3 player with me if I want music, and I have no interest in watching movies on the go. Plus, I want my battery to last on a long car ride if I'm taking a vacation. The DS does what I want, it has (or will have) the games I want, and it suits me perfectly. I'll likely still buy a PSP in the future, but I have no reason to do so as of yet. I initially bought a PS2 to play Kingdom Hearts. I'd have to have some sort of reason to kick me into buying a PSP, some game that I just have to have....

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: PSP ups and downs
First off, the DS screen doesnt scratch at all on top because it is like a book. A books cover can get damaged but the pages are fine.
Secondly, DS can and will have a web browser. Might be a homebrew creationg, but it will have one none the less. All you need is a working TCP/IP stack and then you can start to work on it (Of course, homebrew coders will have to find out how to work with the wifi registers first before making that TCIP/IP stack). And you do seem to be a bit of a sony fanboy... -----Soccr743----- |
