this game's timing is all messed up, its too hard to actually get all perfects on this, you need to synchronize it alittle more

I can only agree.
It's not the game's timing that has a problem, it's yours. ..on another note, if you're serious about little lag-patches ingame, it's because you have a slow computer. I've found that you need about a 1ghz processor for it to run perfectly ![]()

actually, it runs awfully laggy on a 1 ghz.
1.7 is required for a lag free game on setting 1.

Nah, I'm running a 1Ghz =). I can play setting 1 with hardly
any lag.. and what little lag I get is tiny little pulses that at most change a perfect to an average. I have to kill all other processes to do so though =P.

Man, the timing in this game is so messed up, in SM I can get a 500 combo on revolutionary etude and on FFR I can get a 100 combo, game is still fun though, but not to play competitively

heh. You don't know what lag is unless you played FFR on a 450 mhz
like I used to. That's lag. XD Compared to that, it runs beautifully now ![]()

Whazzat? ....dude, it still doesn't run that bad. Even on a 1 ghz,
I'm in top 5 for massive, and #1 for moonlight sonata. ...but is there a way to improve? =P

Usually there are 2 issues. Neither of them are lag.
Issue #1) Your computer is too slow. Hell, I would love it if Macromedia sped up the processing and movement of bitmaps in their flash plugin for IE/Netscape etc. Unfortunately we are pushing the frame rate to the limit with browser based flash playback. I could get probably 10x performance gain by using shockwave (Director based) but that would mean that newbies would have to go out and download a 10mb plugin. 90% of the people out there already have the Flash6 plugin. Them having the flash plugins leaves me with less questions and problems and them with less download time. Don't get the 2 technologies confused. Stepmania is a standalone non-browser based product that was designed with speed in mind. FFR is browser based and does a HELL of alot considering it is only 250kb. You could fit 6 copies of the program on a single floppy disk. Issue #2: Human error. There are still plenty of songs (dance#1, funk and a few others) that had their arrows recorded by hand. This was literally a keystroke recorder.. Look at songs like Song #5 in Dance1. That song was built using my DWI converter. You will notice how well it seems to keep sync. There are no syncing problems. Just human error in the creation of the level when it appears to not be perfect. I eventually hope to replace the old files with rebuilt DWI files that I then convert back into FFR. (anyone want to do this? It would be a tedious job). One last thing. All files are preloaded into your system. The word lag gets missused these days. Basically what you are seeing is the slowdown of playback or something your eye is flaging as "not right". It has nothing to do with actual lag in the connection. Arch0wl, I agree with you. I dont think that FFR is at a true competition level yet. But it will get there, it is consistant and it does keep people busy in class! It basically makes a DDR like game available anywhere you go in the world. Cheers, Synthlight |

*nod*. Like I said, it has tiny little pulses where the window hangs,
then catches up.. but that was on a 450mhz =P .'s not connection problem =). The word lag was meant in terms of processor lag.
