Default Above Everything

Hi, im trying to make a stepchart for the song above everything, but the BPM is really bugging me. i used 180, and that worked... 90%. half-way through the song, the quarter notes are 1 half-beat off.
the song is 5:47 long.
anyone know what the exact tempo is?

Time for a little math:

song length: 347s
half-way: 173.5s
beats per second: 3
At 180 BPM, there are 520.5 beats in 173.5s. You say it's half a beat off, but you didn't specify if it's early or late. So there should be either 520 or 521 beats in these 173.5s.

520 * 60 / 173.5 = 179.827
521 * 60 / 173.5 = 180.173

With the information you gave, one of the two adjusted BPMs above would work.

If this doesn't work, though, try opening the .mp3 in a program like Audacity. Zoom in at the start and either at the end or any check point, and note down the milliseconds at which the beats start. Subtract the later point from the first to obtain the exact selection time. Convert this number to minutes. Listen to the track and count how many measures are in your selection, then multiply that number by four. Divide this number by the selection time in minutes to obtain the BPM.
If I had the .mp3, though, what I would do is open it in ddreamstudio. Auto-fill the track with 180 BPM, move the beats to the start of the track to get the offset, then make sure you have the correct number of beats in a selection, and align the last beat in your selection to the sound. Select all the beats in the selection, hit the G shortcut for the Grow command, and it will tell you the average BPM of the selection. It's like what you do in Audacity but without counting the measures yourself.

If you can't use either of these programs, if you could supply a download of the .mp3, I could get the BPM for you.

Allright, using the information you gave me, i fiddled with the settings a bit, and it turns out the BPM is exactly 179.86!
thanks, i'm hoping to have this (possibly) added to the game.
