The problem I've always had with subscriptions is that a lot of the functions that come with them should just be things you have access to in the first place. I have to pay money to see my credit transactions? To look at a detailed level rank? To look at token level ranks? I should be able to do with regardless of whether or not I am a subscriber.

I think subscriptions should be similar to a magazine subscription, in terms of implied advantages. Mainly, subscriptions expose you to content before everyone else, which is one function of current subscriptions that I think is pretty cool.

Subscriptions should be all about interesting FFR/song-related content access, or cool new feature access that nobody else can touch. Stuff like credit transactions/ranking lists/etc should just be public in the first place. I find that limiting features for the purpose of supplementing a lack of "exclusive" content is a little gimmicky as a business strategy.

I think more people would buy subscriptions if they were more content-oriented.

I generally agree with the sentiment of this post very much.

I think the reason why a lot of this stuff hasn't been released to the public is server loads, to be blunt. FFR is, and always will be free, and the money that is made from ads and subbies is used to keep it running from what I understand and hope. Until Synthlight and the administration can get a hold of more powerful servers, features will be limited, it's just the fact of the matter.

It would be interesting to know what the administration has in store for the subbies - future projects and whatnot, but they always seem reluctant to tell us.
