Re: A list of all Major Simfile Packs for StepMania

Out of curiosity, where are the majority of these packs first organized/released? I don't know of many forums or communities with enough Stepmania interest to release packs, besides here and ODI. For example, where are the Hard Songs Megapack Volumes released?

[icontrolyourworld]

Re: A list of all Major Simfile Packs for StepMania

hard songs megapacks are organized by izzy on youtube entirely

youtube.com/izzysm

There were some packs released from bluexoon and keybeatonline, bluexoon is no longer a site, and keybeatonline has slowed down now that ffr is back up. otakus dream makes all the otakus dream packs, and there are a few packs that are run through pms and never get a thread made. For example rebounds dump collection was a pack that never had a thread made, it was a secret pack that rebound ran and the only way you would know is if you knew him. The majority of packs though I believe come from ffr.

something more common nowadays though is minipacks made entirely by one person, i believe this is due to the elitism in the sm community, and people wanting to be better known without getting their files bashed by a group of judges.

Re: A list of all Major Simfile Packs for StepMania

Well, even if FFR really is the place where the majority of packs are organized, I feel as if I still don't learn about most of these packs' existences till long after release. The same goes for prominent SM players and stepfile artists: I've never seen the majority of them here or any other forum (wooke, Thaor, Zaghurium, Malice, and all these other people that I only know because other people have mentioned their names).

In short, I feel out of the loop on a lot of SM stuff and am wondering where the largest SM communities are.

Re: A list of all Major Simfile Packs for StepMania

The best way to figure out who are the main players, would be to check the SM 4key scores thread on the scoreboard. To figure out who today's most prominent stepauthors are look in the most recent packs released, and keep an eye on any new packs being made.

Add these please:

Mute Sims 1
Mute Sims 2
Mute Sims 3
Mute Sims 4
Mute Sims 5

I'd also like to note that there is a very comprehensive list of ITG/pad packs maintained by Teex on AIJ:

Re: A list of all Major Simfile Packs for StepMania

Anyone have any recommendations for Solo packs? I currently have the 92 Solo Files and the 96 Solo Files packs, and I'm looking for something similar. Large pack, variety of difficulties, and at least as challenging as the two aforementioned packs (if not slightly harder in difficulty).

Re: A list of all Major Simfile Packs for StepMania

there aren't very many solo packs, i say just get them all

Re: A list of all Major Simfile Packs for StepMania

Well come on, has everyone forgotten about Roar's IIDX Sirius 4keys+solo pack that was just released a few days ago? Add that!

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/vbz/showthread.php?t=119393

Was this pack so incognito that there wasn't even a mention on this when someone just asked about solo files?

@below: that's true, the bumping of the super meat boy pack totally distracted everyone from Roar's pack...and it's not even a new pack either
give some love to sirius!! ):

Re: A list of all Major Simfile Packs for StepMania

i downloaded that, but haven't had a chance to play it since it was overshadowed by someone bumping the super meat boy pack

Re: A list of all Major Simfile Packs for StepMania

Good recommendation, bmah...downloaded. I also have a partiality to Japanese vocal/nonvocal songs, so all the better! And it has a lot of files that are challenging for my skill level. Thanks a lot for the suggestion.
