Loved the last episode. Still a bit disappointed because Kyon was being a pussy until that kiss, and even after. Mikuru and Haruhi are really the stars of the show now. Love it all.

I love Suzumiya Haruhi the most!!!!!!I knew she was eccentric girl but the background of her past was atleast show some of her personality.

I love Nagato Yuki(Ujuijin) but she is sometime emotionless.

I can say Asahina Mikuru-Chan(Miraijin) the want who can say the future can only give us a clue.

Umm old topic bump. I took the time to actually watch the show and while it was pretty good, I don't think it's the best anime of 2006. One of the best no doubt but not THE best.

I'm too much into this show for my own good, but I have to fix this.

It's uchuujin and hisekaijin. And there is no "L'' sound in Japanese. Romajii or no, spelling stuff incorrectly will just screw you up later.

                **WARNING: SPOILERS**

So I just finished watching this series this morning and I have to say that as much as I didn't want to watch it, (mainly because of the people who were saying it was the greatest thing since sliced bread) I found it to be very well done.

Now when I say "very well done" I don't mean "Greatest series ever!" or "Series of the year!" or anything like that. It was a great story, and a well written one at that. Was it the series of the year or greatest series ever? Not really.

For one, I almost didn't watch this series. The very first mistake they made (and the biggest IMO) was to air the culture festival movie as the first episode. Now before you yell at me for being close-minded to a different approach on a series, let me tell you that I thought that airing the episodes out of order was a great idea. It kept you thinking, and was a welcome change to the normal plotlines of most of the series out today. I just think that they should've aired episode 2 first, than 3, than 1. I watched episode one when the series was only at maybe 3 or 4 and it wasn't enough to make me say, "yeah, I wanna watch this." Even all the praise it was getting didn't help. I didn't care much for episode 1, and after dl'ing the entire series for watch, I skipped the first episode.

The music of the series (aside from the culture festival stuff) wasn't that great either. Not that I really saw anyone praising it or anything, I just think it would've been nice to have a catchier opening/ending. It's okay, I'm used to skipping through intros most of the time anyway; not a big deal.

What made say this series was very good was what I hope most people watch/read/listen to any story for. Storyline and character development. Kyon was a very likeable character and easily relatable to anyone who's ever enjoyed even the slightest bit of science fiction. Throwing in a character who you love to be annoyed with (at least I loved being annoyed by Haruhi) was a classic move that turned out well. I have to say that I didn't like how quickly Kyon suddenly discovered that he was in love with Haruhi or whatever, but for the sake of a short series, they did a good job. Nagato was my favourite character by far; expressionless most of the time, amazingly skilled at everything (as aliens probably are?) yet able to show that she wasn't above petty "human life". Koizumi and Asahina were nice additions as well, although I found Koizumi rather annoying towards the end.

Overall, It was pretty obvious that Kyon was going to fall for Haruhi and Haruhi would eventually discover that she liked Kyon as well. But even so, the series did its job by making me get mad at the characters for not just DOING SOMETHING about it. Kind of cheesy kiss aside, I think they ended this series well, which IMO, doesn't happen very often.

I do have one question though. Nagato told Kyon to think of Sleeping Beauty right near the end of the last episode, which clearly led to the kiss to wake the sleeping Haruhi. However, a few episodes earlier (I think) she mentions Snow White to Kyon. My question is: When did he ever take that into account? And what was it supposed to mean? (I'm not that familiar with the snow white story). Was it not used?

Both stories have something in common: a kiss to wake the sleeping princess. It was just there to remind Kyon of what he had to do to preserve the world.

Also, Hare Hare Yukai topped the Oricon. Does that not make it good?
