    Ok.

    For the last time.

I never said this game would not be fun.

I never said I wouldn't play this game.

I'm JUST SAYING. If you want a similar experience, a game made by a respectable and well-known company has been on the shelves for a few weeks. The name of the game is Rise of Legends. It looks almost exactly the same. Check it out.

        Re: Watch this, RIGHT NOW.

The reason I (and others, prolly) are attacking you, Squeek:

What makes this any different from all of the other RTS games?
        They're all the freakin' same!
If you want this game, go buy Rise of Legends. It's the same thing, but it's out already and much better.
I can tell what it will be like from a demo alone.
Yeah....that's a bit....well, retarded. If somebody else had said the same exact thing as you about something that you thought was good, you'd probably jump them for it. =\

Oh, and as for the missing thing. Given the rather huge number of units firing at the spider and the relatively small number of missed shots, it's not too unbelievable in how much they miss. The spider is moving, after all, and most of the missed shots missed the extremities (legs, head, and other parts that were moving fairly fast compared to the total movement).

The point is, if you play many FPS games you should know that NOBODY has 100% accuracy. Even against rather large things that are immobile or fairly still, people react quickly and miss a lot. I randomly check the stats of the highest ranked people in BF2, and I can't recall ever seeing anybody with 25% or greater accuracy. Most people seem to float around 20-25%, prolly a lil lower on average, because most people aren't highly trained combat expects, they're grunts with minimal training.

But yeah, missing against something big and slow like that means that there will be TONS of misses against things like infantry and fast vehicles, which will give small groups (especially small infantry groups) a better chance at making a big difference. I like that, because usually units get useless because there is something bigger that you can mass and use against the enemy to a greater effect. =\

Oh and as for being able to tell gameplay from the video: we know nothing. Like, C&C: Generals and Rise of Nations can look pretty similar in a video, but RoN is much more like Age of Empires games and is more about teching up and base expansion while Generals is more of a mass-and-attack RTS. Just because it has similar units or is set in a similar time frame or anything doesn't mean the games are anything alike. That said, I suddenly REALLY wanna play RoN, so I'm going to do that. And to all of you, stop thinking thoughts about this game based on the video.

....except nforcer. He has the right idea.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

          Re: Watch this, RIGHT NOW.

EB, video game companies make the teasers for their game for a reason: they want to entice you to purchase their game.

More often than not, the teaser / trailer is using pre-rendered scenes as a means to entice you to purchase their game thinking they are realtime action clips. I didn't see a mouse or a box highlighting units in the trailer, did you?

Oh, when I say I can tell what it's like, I mean I know how the game is to be played: select units to attack, tell them where to go, etc. Meaning, the generic RTS style of play. I don't mean I understand everything about the game.

            Re: Watch this, RIGHT NOW.

            The 'music' game core is:

            1) Choose a song of varying kinds that differ based on your bpm / style / length / etc.

            2) Amass various mods while researching advances in technique (index / spread, w/e).

            3) Mash.

I'm not arguing with you Squeek- in fact, I agree with you. I'm just pointing out the fact that it's an RTS- OF COURSE it's going to have those elements. If it didn't... then it wouldn't be an RTS, now would it?

Check out the E3 gameplay demo if you want to see gameplay straight from the game. It doesn't look half bad, although you'll need a top-of-the-line computer to support that many units with so much detail.

ALSO it's a good idea to watch E3 gameplay demos if you want to make good judgements about the game.
