Re: [Breakcore] A New Beginning
Because it IS the way I want it.
He can critique the work as much as he wants, I'm not OBLIGED to change it because one single goddamn person doesn't enjoy something on the track.
PS: Had he said, that my song was out of scale or mixed improperly if it was, then this would be a different discussion. (hint: it isnt)
I can dissect melodies I like or don't like all day and not come to a conclusive answer why I enjoy a certain composition over others,
he doesn't enjoy it, I do. I don't see the issue here, he doesnt like the song and I'm okay with that. I will not change the song because he doesn't enjoy it though.Last edited by Coolboyrulez0; 12-8-2012, 01:26 PM.Comment

Re: [Breakcore] A New Beginning
I understand that you're not obligated to change everything just because a single person doesn't enjoy what they're hearing. Music would be dead if that were the case. I'm saying that the way you're responding isn't respectful of his critiques because you're just dismissing them.Originally posted by Jewpinthethird"Hey Keywii" Said Foil in a raspy voice.

Re: [Breakcore] A New Beginning
Perhaps he should rephrase his critique, and I'll address it all again.I understand that you're not obligated to change everything just because a single person doesn't enjoy what they're hearing. Music would be dead if that were the case. I'm saying that the way you're responding isn't respectful of his critiques because you're just dismissing them.
I am dismissing them with sufficient reasoning, at least from my perspective, as to why certain elements are the way they are.
Also, I usually do not have issues with people critiquing my work, but certain times issues have arisen (i'm sure you remember punch out, which I ended up completely redoing), and mostly it's with Tristan.
On the contrary, when I addressed one of his older simfiles with valid issues and concerns, I was made to be the bad guy and it was written off as a personal attack and it shouldnt be valid since the file was older. Damn, you guys really twist the situation based on wanted outcome. Slick.Last edited by Coolboyrulez0; 12-8-2012, 01:41 PM.Comment

Re: [Breakcore] A New Beginning
The bass could be less overpowering IMO, but really cool track otherwise.

Re: [Breakcore] A New Beginning
A painter with a carefully selected color palette can still make a painting ugly. What's your point?
o ok so it's exactly right as it is so why ask for criticism?
o ok so it's exactly right as it is so why ask for criticism?
o ok so it's exactly right as it is so why ask for criticism?Yup that's how I structure songs, except not always with fading but rather via the introduction of FX.
Although this isn't applicable to everything I make, I don't see how it's a bad thing -- many other successful artists do this to, but obviously more successfully than me.
It's not like I'm making free jazz or something where this would be utterly horrible as a concept and execution.
Also, breakcore is basically the free-jazz of harder electronic music but it don't matter cuz this song is exactly right as it is right?
Shitty criticism eh? Dabbled in subjectivity and vague eh? I'm pretty sure I was direct and straight to the point, pointing out areas that need work and trying to take an objective stance on the work you've made. Ofcourse opinions are subjective but so is every other opinion, and I try to not let my personal preferences influence my words. Where do you come off saying that anyway? Because I view things differently than you? GL with life then
What's more worrying though is that you dared to call my opinion shitty. What right do you have to call my opinion shitty? You are not an accomplished composer of any sorts, neither do you have any notoriety on music and EVEN THEN you wouldn't have the right to write off someone's opinion like that, you elitist dick.
You addressed every point fairly and gave your reasoning for it? When? Cause all I read was "nope it's how i want it to be! 2 bad 4 u!" without ever explaining as to why you want it to be like that or any sufficient reasoning for why you made that decision (other than that "it's how I want it to be"). That's not reasoning buddy.
And you say no profanity no hostility? Maybe you should read your words again.
I need to rephrase my critique? hahaha
How about you learn some fucking manners when someone gives you an opinion instead of insulting the one giving critique, dickface.
Me having high standards doesn't mean you have the right to write off my opinion as shitty/invalid/void.Also, I usually do not have issues with people critiquing my work, but certain times issues have arisen (i'm sure you remember punch out, which I ended up completely redoing), and mostly it's with Tristan.
On the contrary, when I addressed one of his older simfiles with valid issues and concerns, I was made to be the bad guy and it was written off as a personal attack and it shouldnt be valid since the file was older. Damn, you guys really twist the situation based on wanted outcome. Slick.
And the second part in that quote is not true at all.
You came on skype, started off with how I was retarded for stepping schmollbluk the way I did and started to aggressively point out mistakes I made on the file and why I shouldn't have stepped that "piece of shit".
For one, your manners were completely nonexistant when you addressed me about the file, so yes, it's no surprise I got pissed at you. And second, you started "critiqueing" my file.. 3 years after its fucking release. How is that helpful in any way?
Point wasn't even the criticism you gave me, as most of it were valid arguments for ergonomics in the file, but your complete and utter lack of respect towards me when starting your rant about schmollbluk, and the fact that you were 3 years late with this shit. (I like how you're trying to turn this thing around and make you come out as the good guy here but I have the logs still and you were simply ranting in a disrespectful way, and out of fucking nowhere as well)
To further entertain the readers some more with your utterly disrespectful attitude towards people who don't agree with you, here are some excerpts
of our skype conversation:
That's a good start don't you think? Although relatively mild for what's about to come.[20:03:04] Tristan Kok: commented on ur song
[20:03:07] Tristan Kok: inb4 harshest critic
[20:03:50] Eric Hansen: gay comment as usual
[20:04:15] Eric Hansen: ps all the notes are in-scale you donghead
[20:04:20] Eric Hansen: Harmonic Minor
[20:04:22] Tristan Kok: that doesn't mean they work together you donghead
Where the FUCK do you come off saying I'm not qualified? That's a whole other level of elitism that I haven't encountered before.. Seriously??[20:09:20] Eric Hansen: I think you just arent qualified to comment on my type of breakcore, as harsh as that sounds.
I listen to a whole range of breakcore, and even so, I can understand someone's idea regardless of the style it is in. I may not like the style but I never commented on your style directly!
And aside from this, it's not pompous and I am qualified for it. Big artists cater to the customers, and if someone doesn't like it, they appreciate any feedback they can get.[20:18:27] Eric Hansen: Do you, as a listener, go to big artists and tell them what you think is not right with their songs?
[20:18:36] Eric Hansen: That's pompous and you are not qualified for it.
[20:18:38] Eric Hansen: And you know it.
[20:18:43] Eric Hansen: And it's subjective.
[20:18:47] Eric Hansen: End of discussion.
[20:18:52] Tristan Kok: lmfao that's retarded
[20:18:59] Eric Hansen: You may think so.
[20:19:08] Tristan Kok: if I had a big artist in my contact list who would send me a song
[20:19:12] Tristan Kok: I would critique it truthfully
[20:19:17] Eric Hansen: I didnt send you the song
[20:19:23] Tristan Kok: but you posted it online anyway
[20:19:24] Eric Hansen: nor did I ask for critique of yours
[20:19:26] Tristan Kok: for critique
[20:19:29] Eric Hansen: not from you
[20:19:31] Tristan Kok: then don't post shit online
[20:19:33] Tristan Kok: lmfao
I would like to add to this that I actually have other friends who produce in higher circles who have asked me for critique and value my opinion. People who run their own labels, like Tanuki, DJ Thumpa, Rex Buron (NiTEFLARE) and The Speed Freak. Welp, there goes that argument down the drain.
How is this not insulting? Do you even think before you say shit like this? I also never "established" it's due to personal reasons that I don't like your work. You made that assumption. I believe you have some key fundamentals wrong that you need to work on.[20:14:04] Eric Hansen: We've established that you do not enjoy my works due to your personal reasons, and I established I'm not gonna change a damn thing about it.
[20:14:11] Eric Hansen: Thus your critique is null and void.
And then there's this beauty of a quote:
Worst argument award 2012 goes to you.[20:15:19] Eric Hansen: maybe i'll listen to you once you start producing hehu
[20:15:51] Eric Hansen: you are just a consumer of the good and see things differently
[20:16:01] Eric Hansen: you do not manufacture the good and understand what works go in it
Just because I can't cook, doesn't mean I don't know good food.
Just because I can't produce, doesn't mean I don't know good music.
This is seriously the most elitist argument you have ever made. And one more thing, about the "not understanding what works go in it". I don't need to know how things are made to appreciate the end-product. It's the result that matters and the result was sub-par in my opinion.
None of the criticism even matters in the end. The point is you have an absolute shit attitude towards criticism when someone disagrees with you and you're a disrespectful douche about it.

Re: [Breakcore] A New Beginning
eh, is there really a right or wrong? who cares what people think of tracks apparently unless there positive (its okay, I can get offended too, but critisim is critisim) For me I've personally delt with denile of my abbilites as a step author by most people and I still don't understand it, but with music it's different only cause the sky is the limit (I just label most of my weird shit as electornic) with what you can do even to the extent it isn't music anymore. And as much as I like the track, and am in no way going against you, you did seem to be a *little* rude with things like "shitty critiscism" ect. and ultimately working in a mainstream gerne your going to "have" to listen to people not just like Tristian but pretty much anyone who apposes what you do at some point.
I can understand your immediate defense, I cant stand when I step MY OWN SONG and people tell me the file isn't "right" or I missed a "note"...Last edited by V-Ormix; 12-9-2012, 06:23 PM.Comment
