Default Kicks / Snares / Claps?

Oh hi there.

SO! I am still new to remixing / making originals and was wondering where everybody gets their kicks / snares / claps?

Is there a good website to download them? Can I steal them off someone? Do you record them yourself? I really only have one of each, and its making my music quite limited. Thanks

For downloading samples, get the Vengeance sample libraries.

For building my own, I generate kicks and claps with sine or noise wavetables in CSound.

I got a fair few stock samples from the Renoise backstage jizz when I purchased that a few years ago.

Making your own instrument/bass effects/sounds like this is the best. Nothing like using something of your own creation~

Old public domain jazz songs, sampling the percussion.

I am amon tobin

But yeah either that or making your own is great. The generic ones from a lot of kits feel pretty bland. So manipulate those if you do decide to use them.

This is usually where I grab my samples.

Also if I hear one in a song I like I try and find a part of the song where its the most on its own and sample it out. (KOAN Sound makes this really easy because of their mastering technique.)

Sample folders are big files. You can get most of the vengeance ones off ThePirateBay or if you're on What.cd (way faster) then they have some of them.
Am I even allowed to promote those websites? ^^^
