You're selecting the avatar layer and not the layer with your image. Select the layer with the black box, use the magic wand, THEN before CTRL+X/Cutting the image SWITCH to the layer with your image. Sorry if that wasn't clear in the instructions.

I know you're not I just felt like being a dick lol...thanks though could have been my fault for being PS illiterate lol. (Just got it a few days ago). All I've done so far is make my siggy LOL

well sadly when it comes to my photoshop doc,

I should bloody well hope so
It does, seeing as I did it in Adobe Photoshop CS2.
