Why would you bring up something like this? It's pointless to talk about this. :P

Instead of proposing means to further distance the community, I propose that instead if this description fits you, that you contribute to the community.

Host tournaments. Contribute credits to tournaments. Invent new forum games with credit prizes. Encourage site participation in creative events. You could always just give credits away as well -- there's no need to be selfish.
Amen. Well said. Even some of us with less than the amount required to currently have all the secret genre still host tournies.

To you maybe. But some of us see the big picture here.

How about the legacyranks. I don't like those legacy files clogging up my lvranks, and no one wants them in tokens, they have a whole separate genre in-game.

Anyway, to the rest of the OP, +1. I agree with this fully.

Re: Secret / Purchased / Legacy

I agree that something has to be done about the current prices in the Purchased Genre. However, I think with the current songs, the total spent should be the current total needed to buy all of the purchased songs (at the moment 84,811 credits if I added everything up correctly). If we increase this value, it would be unfair for newcomers to pay more credits than the older members and vice versa.

@subin: I see that you are trying to make credits have more value. I think this should be done by adding a ridiculous amount of purchased songs with reasonable prices rather than increasing the prices of the current songs as a whole.

I think the cost of an individual file should be changed in respect to the quality of the file, the difficulty portrayed, etc. However, one can make that same argument that I made about newer members paying a different amount for a particular file which is unfair. I think we should consider a relative method of static pricing for the newer files that end up being in the Purchased Genre.

I disagree with this. This calls for separate level ranks in terms of a specific genre which is meaningless. To me, legacy files emphasizes a unique skill. How well can you respond to offsync'd files? How well can you read files with blue-note syndrome?

However what I will say though is that Legacy files appearing in both level ranks is not necessary. I think something should be done about that.

I'll write more if I have more ideas.

Agreed 1 trillion percent, most of the people who still want them in have already AAA'd them

A little heads up, songs CAN'T be removed/moved/resorted in the purchased genre. When they made it, the intention was that nothing in there changes, so it was designed like that.
That's why the purchased bug existed in the legacy engine, it only tracks the location of the purchased song, and not the song itself. Fixing it is almost impossible.

Other things, I'll see about tomorrow.

... Why am I not surprised they did that.
