Re: Donnie Darko Sequel Coming. =(
I like the topic of Donnie Darko and the sequel coming out just fine, it's the tinge of "omg HOW DARE THEY DO THAT" that set me off. Why make a topic just to bitch about how they're making a movie when you could just as easily ignore the movie altogether? However, the same logic doesn't apply here, because I most definitely do want to talk about Donnie Darko and S. Darko.
In fact, I plan on buying Donnie Darko when it hits Blu-ray and I plan on checking out the sequel as well (probably also when it comes out on Blu-ray).
If my 6th sense is accurate, I'd wager this sequel will be a complete rehash, except it will be Miss Daveigh Chase instead of Jake Gyllenhaal. Can't say much about acting potential without having seen this sequel yet, but I know I'd definitely rather look at her for 2 hours than him. I don't think this sequel will be truly terrible really, although I would have to agree that since the first one is easily available now, it wouldn't hurt to give it a chance as soon as possible.
Interesting fact about Daveigh Chase: In addition to her role in as little sister Samantha Darko in the cult hit, she played Samara in The Ring, and did some voice acting work, perhaps most notably Lilo from Disney's Lilo and Stitch. Anime fans might also know her as Chihiro from the English dub of Spirited Away.
