Meh, high quality dump files are a thing. As in the past dumps wont be the focus though. Vol. 1 had like 4 dump files in it. Vol. 2 will probably be along the same lines.

i disagree, simply because there isn't enough objective grounding to determine what meets the criteria of a "high quality" file when it comes to dumps. the notion of "high quality" is rather nonsensical because it's too subjective in this instance.

That's definitely a fair point and we will be limiting the number of dump files pretty severely. I definitely don't want these packs to be too much about dump files.

Die For The Sword works for me preview wise it might be a country block because youtube does that sometimes for some reason.

              I sent a chart in.

                Cool beans.

I'm gonna post my reviews for Scintills and XelNya's files later tonight. I will say that so far we are off to a fantastic start, though.

I also took out two of my files that weren't up to par. I really want this pack to be very good.

                    We waited a month.

This one will probably take much longer to finish than the first.

Re: Yolomania Vol. 2 - Submissions Open!

stuff about file reviews or something. do note that i do not have any actual say in whether a file gets accepted or not.

                      Aquarius - Clock Up (Scintill)

-check offset, i know you synced it to the first note instead of the filtered guitar, but most of the song after 8.220s is slightly early
                      -82.060s the guitar strum starts a 24th earlier @ 81.980s and has 4 notes, not 2
-missing hi-hat notes all over the file, not going to list all because there's too many
-86.100s you use the sustained guitar notes as holds but switch that and make the hi-hat a hold also
-88.780s this guitar strum is a 32nd triplet, not 48ths and is slightly early even then because of offset
-missing bass notes on 89.340s and 89.940s
-strum @ 90.700s starts at the closest 64th and is also 32nd, but offset doesn't give enough room to place them without making the freeze rainbow
-91.710s is where the strum begins
                      -104.220s, 106.020s and 108.060s the strum is 32nds not 24ths

overall: it's a very fun file albeit a little slow paced, which makes the melody repetition stand out a bit more. of the omissions i noticed, they were a bit inconsistent. you stepped the hi-hats at certain areas but ignored them in others. the incorrect snaps for the strums and the offset do need to be fixed however, the early offset doesn't give you enough room to place all the notes correctly in the strums.

                      Pia-no-jaC - Paradiso (Scintill)

i have no comments to make on this file atm, just refer to what Wafles said for my thoughts when he posts his, though i thought the handjack was justified and isn't too incredibly out of place.

                      Myavi - Pleasure! (Scintill)

-2.473s the roll ends early. the snap is too tight. i suggest to move the beat back
-2.764s both grace notes are early
                      -8.787s roll ends early also
-189.685s to end: forgive me if this sounds weird, but i think you could use more awkward patterns with the piano notes to accent the dissonance present here. you don't have to do this, but that's the feel i get when hearing the song.

overall: fun file and the variation in the song makes it go by fairly fast. very interesting burst patterns and it would be a good fc challenge for many people.

Demetori - Foughten Field [The Venerable Ancient Battlefield] (XelNya)

-2.615s the guitar note does not change pitch, so you can leave them both as [124]
                      -28.112 -> 29.112s guitar notes have a definitive ascending pitch. the first 3 can be [123] with [124], [134] and [234] afterwards
-29.312s this sustained guitar note is on a lower pitch than the sustained notes afterwards. move this one to column 1
-72.808s not sure why you ignore the other sounds and only step the ride here
-93.806s the guitar wail ends here, the miniholds after this can be removed
-116.904, 117.353s etc. the minijacks here are unnecessary
                      -130.407s minijack here is fine

overall: decent file that tests burst/poly skill and consistency. some of the minijacks are unnecessary and don't appear to go to anything. imo it just needs some refining in patterning choice and minor pitch relevancy fixes. you should also cut the audio file soon after the steps finish to reduce file size. it also fools people into thinking it's a lot longer, and song length is why some people don't play certain files.

Arguably the "worst" of the 3 files you sent. I personally found this file less interesting than the other 2 in terms of song choice. Either way its still a lot of fun and a very well made file. Mines are used well, and not too distracting, patterns are all incredible, and the rhythms are about as accurate as possible. As caliber mentioned, the hi-hat is stepped rather inconsistently, but it generally made sense within the context of the section and kept flowing well. Another note to make is that the sync is off just a little bit, looks like the offset is a few milliseconds off. Even still this file is a definite accept from me and I can see myself playing it quite a few more times.
Edit: Forgot to mention, I'd appreciate a sync fix if you wanna send in a fixed .sm file.

Probably the funnest marathon file I've ever played. No joke this file felt more like 4 minutes than 7. My one major criticism is that the hand jack section is a little annoying, but it is short and only happens once so its fine by me. Song choice is absolutely incredible and a lot of fun to play. This file must have taken you ages to make, and it absolutely shows. Overall, I'm honored to have this file in the pack and for me it was easily the best of the 3 that you sent in.

                        Accepted

Insanely fun and groovy song. I can't really think of anything negative to say about this one at all other than I wish it was a little more difficult so that I could have a little more fun on it. Even still it'll be fun for me to try to FC and eventually AAA.

Overall, Scintill, your files were an absolute pleasure to play and you definitely set the bar pretty high for this pack. I promise not to let you down in terms of quality for the rest of it!

I'm gonna wait on Skwid and IronSheep to play this before I make any judgement calls on this one, jacky jumpstream really, really isn't my thing so I can't really say for certain whether it is that good or not. The file is great up until the jacky jumpstream comes in, and my main concern is that the jacks seem kind of randomly placed. Its really hard to tell what you're putting them to, especially when actually playing the file. I wouldve accepted this right away if not for the jacks at the end, as it offers a pretty unique and fun handstream experience with a lot of crazy burst patterns. Overall its pretty fun even with the jacks at the end so we'll see, I anticipate this will probably be an accept but who knows.

Edit: Looked at the sync of Clock Up. I tried moving the offset by .01 sec, but then the ending is out of sync. It's pretty minor I have to say...

Yeah I agree that the sync is pretty minor. At the largest sync issues it is off by like, 9ms, which is significantly less than half of the marvelous window. Overall I'm not worried about it, hence why I put accept rather than conditional If changing the offset slightly doesnt help then I wouldn't worry about it.
