the gsx bikes are the katanas really and the engine is so detuned id be pretty surprised if it would ever do much, and an aerodynamic chassis doesnt do **** to help with that crappy bodywork on there

how was it i was looking at possibly getting one, my other thoughts were an r6, 1098 or mv agusta f4 (not to be confused with the cbr600 f4)

Welp, after riding it around for a few days, I'm pretty comfortable on it. The height is perfect for me. The weight seems like a slight issue, because you've got to really throw a lot of body weight into sharper turns to get the bike to lean at the angle you want.

It's got plenty of power, though it seems to break traction in the lower gears if I'm too hard on the throttle, might need to go and buy a nice fat tire for the back, the front tire is pretty worn too, so probably just replace both at once. The one thing I absolutely know sucks about this bike, is that it's only a 5 speed and not a 6. 5th gear is really long, but when cruising at around 80, it's sitting at like 6.5k rpms, just seems high to me, but maybe that's normal? (redline is 12k, max is 14.5k). I've only gotten it up to about 120mph and then backed down because I was about to **** myself. I'll work it up higher over time, just gotta get used to this sort of power and speed.

well i run my harley with a 5.5 redline at 2.5-3.5k while cruising most the time so 6.5k doesnt seem too unreasonable to me and i coulda told you weight would be an issue with a kantana and it barely qualifies as an entry level bike so a 5 speed doesnt really surprise me

While I was shopping around, I was reallllly against getting a Katana, even the 750 Katana's only had 80 or 90 something horsepower, but when I came across this 1100 I was really surprised that it had nearly 140 horsepower, so it's hard to think that ANY 1000+ cc sports bike would be "entry level".

but srs though, I'm happy with it, it's ridiculously fast, it looks great, and I just enjoy the freedom of it, and I don't have to sit in traffic anymore, that alone is worth it.

i just hate katanas in general, i always have, i would a suggested something more like an fz6r or fz1 seeing as im partial to yamaha for japanese bikes but even im not gonna tell someone to buy a bike like my old roomate had and get an ex250, that thing was just sad, he had a hot bodies gp exhaust on it and it sounded like a hive of pissed off hornets in ur helmet if u were behind him, even got out run by my harley on more than one occasion but for all its downsides you really could get into corners on a bike that light (he had the '08 redesigned one)

I want one too, might get my license in the summer.

This is what I want though. I don't need 200mph since I just like that feeling of being pretty much free. Same feeling I get on a snowmobile.

Yeah, I am.

I had to drive my car to work this morning instead of the bike cause it was raining, and being in a car again feels weird as fuc haha, even after only 3 days of riding. I'm enjoying owning a motorcycle very much. I recommend it to all.
