      Re: Credits For Subby Threads?

I don't like the idea of auctions... but set prices is ok. I don't mind the idea of having a "value" on credits, since if there becomes a specific market price on credits for subbies, then credits begin to have an actual dollar value.

I would not like to see things like FFR Credits being sold on eBay, or something like that. If anyone saw something like that, they should report it to me so that I can remove all the credits of the person who is selling the credits.

But, yea. Also... as there have been a decent number of these transactions in the past, I only know of 1 that didn't work out for both parties, and I gave that user back the credits that they had initially sent (they didn't get their sub).

This may actually work. I mean in a sense that if someone re-typed the OP, people could come here instead of making a new thread begging for a subscription.

edit: and yes, what Tass said.

I like the idea. It kinda makes the credits more useful. ^^

            Here are my normal prices:

            3-month: 75k
            6-month: 130k
            1-year: 250k

PS: If I know you and I feel you merit one, you may get better prices...

                Re: Credits For Subby Threads?

I thought something like this exists already... But if it doesn't, I think it's a great idea, although it has some flaws. Credits are supposed to be the reward for skill (or gamewhoring), not something you can just buy for RL money. It could also work by just having a 'subscription' item in the FFR shop, that way you can get a subscription if you're poor but still dedicated enough to have enough credits, but not the other way around ^^. One thing I'm not sure about though is what kind of price is fair.

                  Re: Credits For Subby Threads?

those seem a bit high, from the few times i've paid attention to these transactions. but if the market is willing to bear it, and nobody else is willing to do it for less... *shrugs*.

Killburn: A "fair" price is anything that someone is willing to pay... at least in a free market economy, which is what this is and would be. Basic economics. Also... EVERY video game has to deal with people selling in-game items for real cash. I don't have an issue with it being traded as a commodity, since in the end it results in a donation to the site, which is greatly beneficial to the well being of the site. I don't like the idea of users profiting off of the game themselves by directly selling credits for cash. That is where I have the issue.

Check eBay for World of Warcraft items or accounts. They fetch good money. Or any other MMO. Or even a web-based RPG like Kingdom of Loathing.

Heh. I've sold in the past 3-months for up to 250k. I don't want to ruin myself buying subbies either. If someone is willing enough to buy one, they should be able to pay. It's not like credits were worth something anyway.

edit: and even with all that... Sprite still have about 900,000 more credits than you do. I'm still not sure how the hell he got so many.

                        Re: Credits For Subby Threads?

What I usually see a 3 month going for is 50k. It seems reasonable to me. So Emerald, your prices may not be able to quite compete with the going market.

Here, in my opinion, is a set of reasonable prices.

                        1 month: 15,000 credits
                        3 month: 55,000 credits
                        6 month: 100,000 credits
                        1 year: 190,000 credits

                        These seem reasonable to me.

Tournaments and such, same way I got most of mine, I'm at 664k.
Also from making graphics and stuff, 20k alone from that billion in a day thing.

it has to be atleast double the 6month.
                              I like emeralds prices though.
I mean, its real money vs online money.
                              Really :/
If it was more than double the 6 month price, why not just buy 2, 6 month subscriptions?

lonewolf: you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

and tera... i know. but 1.6 million? daaaaaaamn. i mean, i'd have about 800k from the few tournaments i've played (plus the 18+ bil GTS), if not a bit more, if i actually had a real credit count and actually took the credits that i won from tournaments.

edit: and funmonkey... your 1 month price is off. needs to be higher, otherwise it's cheaper to do 3 1-month than 1 3-month. although, i think 1-month needs to be disallowed... as you can't actually gift a subbie, and would have to actually send money... which becomes paying for credits. which is a no-no.
