I'm just reading the 7th book right now. It's alright. But I personally don't grovel for Harry Potter like many of the other fanpersons.

The final cvhampters where one of the most engrossing parts or any harry potter, but the book had an awkward pace. There where some chapters where nothing even seemed to happen.

If they spend more than 15 minutes of film time on camping, or less than 45 minutes of film time on the battle at Hogwarts, I will have to burn down the movie studio.

Battle of Hogwarts can be put into film and last about 10 minutes. 15 is pushing it.

Y'all seem to forget how important the camping scenes were. They were planning their next moves in those tents. They weren't just roasting marshmallows.

What he's saying is that in literature, dull and repetitive parts of books shouldn't have every single detail filled in, but summarized then skipped over to save the attention span of the reader.

What I'm saying is "Given that the movie has a maximum length allowed in which to cover all of the information, I really hope that they spend as little time as possible on the portion of the book where the characters are simply moving from campsite to campsite, and rehashing the same discussion a half dozen times, so as to be able to do justice to the scenes that have a lot more of import happening, and would be more enjoyable to see converted into a visual format"

The staff of the movies usually skips over parts they consider unimportant.....which isn't always good >_>.

But that scene IS important. It indicates that Dumbledore didn't leave them detailed instructions on what to do and that they really have to use everything they've learned in the last six years to figure out how to beat the most powerful man in the world.

wasting time boring the audience and cutting time that could be used on interesting aspects is an excellent way of making a point
