mephisto waltz is good aside from difficulty imbalance (dat ending)
clockwork is almost good
scythe of 13 is by you? I don't know how I didn't notice this before lmao
I completely understand the concept of a hobby, I have plenty myself. Fortunately, none of them require me doing something repeatedly that I don't enjoy. But hobby≠obsession (or at least it shouldn't, not over a flash game, anyway). A hobby shouldn't make you rage. I guess competition spurs on the obsession, though.

Meh.. I just don't like the idea that he wouldn't at least try for quality.
Where do I say that I didn't try for quality? I do, I spent plenty of time nuancing the files the way I wanted them. I send them out for testing, and I get back little to no feedback: where am I supposed to go from there? The FFR judges give you extremely brief notes, and if the note is just "awkward patterns m.55-60" what am I supposed to do?
p.s. mixmeister for anything static bpm. ddream for anything variable.
I never understood how "awkward patterns" were a solid, acceptable judgment for a keyboard file. I have trouble doing repeated patterns for an extended amount of measures, but someone else could probably do that no problem. Pad files are different (since they literally make you move in awkward positions), but keyboard?
I mean honestly, SHIFT THIS ARROW OVER A COLUMN SO YOU MAY ADHERE TO MY FUNDAMENTAL STEPMANIA LAWS AND I CAN JERK IT TO YOUR ART FILE
Why would you put that in your signature? You've lost your signature rights for a month. (You'll get them back on March 10th, 2012.)
idgi, you're saying there's no such thing as an awkward pattern on keyboard?
What I'm saying is how you can pass something off as merely "awkward pattern m.XX-XX." Something like, "this pattern strains your left hand too much," or "this pattern is too fast to hit consistently and accurately," is legitimate judgment. If you brush something off as "awkward," then I disagree with it.

Awkward patterns are just awkward -- it might be because it puts uneven strain on your hands. It might be because the patterns don't really fit the music all that well. It might be due to uneven difficulty distribution.
Generally speaking, a good stepfile, in my opinion, has some sort of natural correlation with the underlying music and emphasizes the prominent pieces of the song through the steps in a way that makes sense. If the steps are counterintuitive given the nature of the music, it's going to feel awkward.
I know how you feel Xander, I felt very similar back in the day when I was making files, except mine weren't anywhere near as good as some of your stuff.
Also, jx, the reason most of my midi's suck is because I make them myself, and I don't have a good VST to throw onto them, so they just sound like a terribad computer playing it. If anyone has a good sound pack for a grand, please throw them on the midis and reupload the mp3's.
Izzy: I thought that was a crossover? I thought running man was like
