FINALLY… we will be doing a song event in conjunction with the tournament. Each round of the tournament will feature a brand spanking new song for each and every division. The tournament will be 10 rounds, so that means 50 new levels as part of the tournament. Be warned, there may be some twists and turns with them too. :).

Maybe it's outdated, because didn't the avatar uploader used to only allow 200x200px for the max dimensions and changed to 300x300 sometime around when the new FFR layout came out?The filesize allowed to be uploaded is a function of the VBZ forum system. The FFR Forum rules supercede what is allowed by the VBZ system. 200x175 is the maximum size of avatars.

Verify.Every main round song in all divisions will be new to the game as they become rounds in the tourney.

This may have been posted, but I read through the first post and saw nothing about it, I may have missed it. If someone has a history of bsing, will they be placed in tournament, or restricted from joining?I am going to advocate that individuals who register who in the opinion of Sprite- and the Administration are too much of a risk for cheating be contacted in private by admins and informed why they won't be allowed to compete. Of course since the first thing most of them will do is publically make a thread complaining about it, chances are good that most such people will probably also be banned.

5 is the highest division, and will probably be composed of everyone who registers who is in Tier 0 through 2 and possibly into the top end of 3 in the Tier Point System. Before people ask, if you don't know what the Tier Point system is, you aren't in a Tier.

Same here. I think this might confuse some people because I might try to improve my score on the main song instead of playing the Tie Breaker song. I don't know, I just think having this new option might create some problems in the future.

If that happens, then the tournament should be a double elimination. Where If you get knocked out, you go to the 2nd tier and play there. So if someone improves there score on the main song, and the other person played the Tie Breaker song, then the person who played the Tie breaker song would advance, and the person who improved there score would go to the 2nd Tier. Because if you don't play the Tie Breaker song, wouldn't your score be -infinity, and you would lose the Tie Breaker?

to answer the improve main round vs tie breaker question... main round takes precedence. you should always try to improve your main score first. the tie breaker is exactly that, a tie breaker. if 1 person improves their main score, then the 2 people are no longer tied.

and it likely will just be sprite doing the scores.... which, yes, will take a bit of time for the first round or two, with thousands of people submitting. but by week 3 or 4, it will be much faster. you'll deal with it, i'm sure.

it is starting the week of june 9th, as stated in the news post. we don't have an exact date, because we have to take the time to put everyone into their proper division.




Zab: the D1 difficulty 10 song will be the 10th and final song... only 2 people will be left in the division at that point. and, i honestly don't know if either will FC it. but I suspect at least 1 will.

And I can handle waiting a while for the first few rounds. Last time I think I got caught with a cheat because I remember playing a song that was assigned to me, and I beat the person's best score by a lot, and he topped my score by almost AAA'ing it or something crazy like that. But as long as I don't encounter one of those, and I play to my full potential, I think I'll do fine and make it to the final slot.:D

if you want to unsign up... just don't submit in round 1. it's that simple.

vROFL will be up for grabs in all 5 divisions... the top 8 people will get it. although, if someone in the top 8 already has it, 9th place will NOT get it. so, it is UP TO 8 that will get it, not the top8 who do not already have it. which is why in the front page news story, it says "(up to 40)".

and zoo... i had forgotten about that. but, i do recall, now that you mention it. that was a pain for me too, since i had access to all of them.

2nd official had 1006 players.... too lazy to count how many in each division, and it wasn't listed in my quick search.

1st official was capped at 192. heh.

1st official was in FFR General, 2nd was in BB, 3rd in FFR Events... 4th in Events. 1st/2nd was run by Shash, 3rd/4th by Sprite.

Although, for those that recall the real old days... there were 2 seasons of the FFR League back in 2004... spring and summer. LD/Freak ran the 1st, I ran the 2nd. There was a few hundred people in each of those across 4 divisions.

There aren't fixed requirements, it will depend as much on the abilities of other people who sign up as it will on yours. (If only people worse than you sign up, you'll be in a higher division etc)

Yes, cash prizes will require paypal, T-shirt prizes will require a mailing address. If either of those is unacceptable to you, I'm sure you can work out an alternate arragement.

If it looks like it will take longer, it will take longer. There's no chance of it starting any later than the 15th unless Tass, Sprite- and I all get the flu at the same time or something.

I know...thats why gulped lol. This will be my first tourney in general and it had me amped so I started forcing myself to play songs I'm having troubles with. But I don't want to miraculously get like 30 fc's (and in there maybe TP's) in that time and then get bumped up lol. Nonetheless I just want to see how I do and play 50 new songs :).

I think its whenever they decide to look through your stuff. Most of the relevant data we'll be looking at was actually snapshot and saved when you pressed the button to sign up (As in, we already have your tier points, AAAs, FCs, Gameplays, Tier points, Top 10 non-aaa scores) though we will of course be looking more in depth in some cases.

@Erich: I could say something like "Yeah, but my AAAs are easy and I'm not that good and blahblahblah", but if they put me in D5, I'll just do my best, make it as far as I can, and hopefully have fun with it.

I think everyone expects to be put in a division they can do well in. If that was the case, we'd have final rounds with 200+ people in them. People are going to lose in their divisions. Sorry if you reading this are one of those.

Nothing but the wireless keyboard. The lag time is insignificant in reference to typing, since it all will come up, no errors... But for FFR/SM, it's significantly lagged... Enough to get a good where you hit a note perfectly sometimes...

That's why I prefer wired... And wired keyboards don't need batteries.

We all know Shash is good and definately used to be among the best, but I know the situation he's going to be in after not playing for so long. I havent officially played FFR in a little over 6 months now, but I still play a couple games a month when not logged in and I can say after not playing seriously for so long, it REALLY messes up your ability to read FFR stream. Plus PA is a little thrown off too. I used to be able to bf or sdg Tension just about every time but now when I play it, it's like "Omg vietnam wall of notes!" and I'm extremely lucky just to fc these days.

Granted, everybody's different so maybe he wouldnt have lost his ability to read the notes, but I know I sure have.

If I'm not mistaken, no new songs are gonna be played during this tourney. So--wouldn't that mean that the last batch of charts WOULD be in the tourney?

Besides, the queue isn't open until July, which would mean an auto-rejection, regardless of how good it is.

Most other useful stats are factored in, and as much will depend on how large Sprite- wants the top divisions to be as anything else. There are only 100 people in tiers, not all of them will sign up. If Sprite- wants D5 to have 50 people and D4 to have 100 people, chances are very good that D5 will be like, tier 0 through 3 maybe even into 4. But also bear in mind that a lot of the really good SM guys don't actually whore Tier Points. The working theory is that since SPrite- knows these guys, he'll sort them properly regardless of where they are on a high score list.
