Apostrophes

When I try to post a random thought in my profile with an apostrophe it comes out as a " \' ". Why is this? If this is an old topic I'm sorry for posting.

I'm sure it's an easy fix too. I wonder who could fix that for us...

To add, when responding to a random though, it seems closing
"quotes" ;
have a semicolon followed by them, as shown. One time I even got
&q uot;
Strange indeed. Also, words end up with spac es for no reason.

That is weird. Also weird was when comments that ended with a period did not include the period when posted.
