View Full Version : Personal Thought on FFR Tourney's

Let me start on a great note. While I may of just been completely faced in the Round 3 FFR tourny, TYVM for putting it on and organizing it all. Huge effort to do that.

However I do think its a little tilted; let me explain what I mean.

AAA is an extremely HARD thing to do, even for a completely amazing FFR'er. I don't think its fair to basically HAVE to AAA or SDC just to advance in your grouping.
I am not the best at FFR, accordingly, I was ranked in the begin. section in the Round 3. I can FC Difficult songs, but by god for the life of me, I can't SDC an Easy, let alone AAA it.

My suggestion is really simply, More "levels" of skill for the next Tourny. Try to make it so that we don't have to AAA our way through, that just shows how much you need to be in another grouping! Or MAYBE, try doing qualifer's or something, instead of using the "average rank". My average rank doesn't describe how good....bad, I am AT ALL!!!

Maybe I'm sore from sucking so bad on Snowflakes....but maybe I have a point?

AAA's are hard, so good players will get them. The best players advance. Case closed. And this doesn't really belong here.

But is it fair that a group called BEGINEER's has to AAA to advance?

First of all, that's not how they determine which division people go into, and second, more divisions wouldn't solve the problem you mentioned. I do agree with that problem though, and think the way to fix it is to simply make people play hard enough songs so that the people in the division can't get so few goods on them.

Edit: And their standards for not being a beginner include having at least 1 tier point, which seems like something that's not easy for a lot of people to do, so there can still be some players with some skill in beginner.

Yes, because all the BEGINNERS took the time and managed to AAA the given song.

It's a tourney, the strong survive, the weak get thrown out. Not EVERYONE can win.

The whole point of the tournament is to see who is the best player.

Not really, as there is some luck involved and it can be altered by the whoring factor.

Theoretically, the purpose is to determine the best player, though. It just so happens that people's schedules get in the way and such.

Yeah but basically the best players advance. Like DarkbearX said, "...the strong survive, the weak get thrown out." I understand what you're saying though.

Pfft...I've moved beyond these primitive tourneys.

Also, what Ledwix and Darkbear said. ;)

True, but the better players get better scores in a lesser amount of time, usually.

I had 0 tier points and was put in intermediate. Can I whine?

Although whoring and luck is involved, skill is still a necessity.

You always have my shoulder to cry on.

What I said was just where they started people. They still made some minor adjustments from there. Still, I'm not sure if you were really good enough that you should have been in intermediate or not. You were near the borderline.

the whole point of the tournament is to see whos better than others. What's there to complain about? if u can't AAA and others can then u just gotta practice more

Luck, how much you play, and allotted time in your schedules are great factors for this tourney, not just how well you play. If you play just enough and play your best, it'll do you well. Yes, AAAing is hard (I know how that feels...), but that is part of the challenge in this tourney. I see what you mean by altering the challenge so that you don't have to AAA and such, but to me, that's more luck than skill. Take getting Zephon for example.

Wouldn't that just move me up into the next skill rank and make me not able to AAA again?
