I have had that shit happen to me multiple times.
One time I was playing Paranoia Evolution on Maniac when this little 5 year old runs right in front of me and on to the other side of the stage. It completely killed my concentration.
Another time this kid decided to "Shadow" me on Stomp to my Beat, and he started singing the chorus out loud for his own amusement.
Argh....Then there was this time when some other kid was horseplaying with some one (pardon the pronouns), and he effing ramed into me and I lost my balance and fell.
Little kids and DDR do not mix. Little kids need their own smaller version of the DDR machine. Or parents who will just watch over their children for once.

Anyway, At where I play, the problem is little kids too. They always run through the machine and get in the way and step up where you are playing and get in the way.

However, we've got another problem.

There are ski ball machines right behind the DDR Machine. So, Occationally someone will slip and a ski ball will go flying in the air at us. I've got hit a couple of times...they hurt.

Being an extremely avid Tekken (arcade version) player, I got pissed because the machine was obstructing the coat rack. People were putting coats on the machine, and some people even had the nerve to move the machine WHILE I WAS PLAYING STAGE 6!!! I won, anyways. Of course, after they moved the machine, it was obstructing the AISLE.

Anyway when someone sees another person playing DDR at our arcades most people know not to do anything annoying because most of the people at our arcades have tried to play and know how hard it is at times so they pretty much leave the DDR players alone.(Of course they do stand bye and watch in Aw.) :wink:
Anyway yeah I am now going to get back to FFR. It isn't as good as DDR but hey I shouldn't complain.

Anyways I know how y'all feel. I was in Lake George a week ago and I was playing on a DDR/PIU muchine and i was doing heavy double mode on Beethovens Virus. I was on my way to a perfect combo only had 23 seconds left (yes I love the song enough that I memorized its time length) when a "friend" that is into it also puposely hits a few tiles to screw my combo, overall i ended with missing 7 arrows and he had one hell of a pain in his hand

The very last day before all the public schools got out me and my friend (whose way better then me)decided to go to our local "arcade" (i say that because it's really a mini golf) and play DDR. Upon arriving we see 250+ people playing mini-golf and are like wft?. We find out a 7th grade class got a field trip to putt-putt. We are now EXTREEMLY pissed off. We decide to just live with it and play. There are like 12 people huddled around the DDR machine (5th mix) and there is this girl who whenever we get close to playing yells "IT'S NOT YOUR TURN THE LINES' BACK HERE!". We eventually got up me being not even decent amazed the people failing the 3 footers then when my friend got up he cleared the area by doing rythem and police on maniac. Then this kid runs behind him, another follows running infront of my friend causing him to loose balance and hit his head against the saftey bar which incidently isn't THAT safe. So i'll leave you with this...it's funny when friends get hurt.

note:it wasn't me failing the three footers i can do 6/7. Just thought i'd clear that.

If people get on a machine while I am playing I give them 2 options. If I am playing singles i dont mind that much cuz usually people know better then to shadow and I dont really care if they do. BUT if I am doing doubles and a kid sticks his foot to be funny or tries to look cool and get on and off or be stupid I purposly step on their feet really hard or do a little freestyle maxtrix walk off the screen and literally kick/knock them over lol. Works like a charm and is a nice crowd pleaser as well.

Where i live the ddr machine has like 20 people waiting to play so there is always a big crowd around the machine and there is this one girl that every time she messes up or a kid runs on the machine and messes her up she screams so fudging loud and scares the kid off.so usually the big crowd stops the little kids from coming in and messing us up.

I have read ddr expieriences where people have kicked little kids and their parents out of the arcade for screwing with the DDR players, which makes sense, because alot of the time 90% of the arcades income comes from DDR. If the DDR player is not in a likeable inviroment and is distracted, he/she won't play.

I started ACTUALLY playing (got a pad for SM) like...in early July or late June or something. I can do Sakura, Bag (on speed mods, of course...I can't get CLOSE on 1x), and I can get to the big double freeze in PS (like, 10 seconds before the runs, I think), as well as about so far in Max300. Max Unlimited I can do...a little. LOM, no, PSM and PSMO never tried.

This is on a soft pad that WRINKLES when I do fast stuff. I pwn.

I've played for the past seven years or so, when I could get away from my parents...When I was about 15 I was doing Max300 on Heavy with an A...Tsugaru with a AAA ( God I love that song! ) and now I can freestyle doubles!

Oh, Bag is easy on Heavy if you don't try to look at all of the damned arrows at once, people. Anyone tried freestyling Cowgirl on Heavy?

I once had a kid walk in and throw his skateboard under my feet when i jumped........yah that wasnt very cool......It resultd in a loss of my 50 cents i used to play and extreme pain...Then i got up and beat the (#$% out of him and threw his skateboard under a car wheel....


Now you see, I might only be 11, but if some little kid, or hell, a big buff dude did that to me, I let instincts take over(I can control just HOW much thinking I allow myself to do when I'm pissed. I have had some experiences like these. My first time playin DDR ever was sorta bad, but stisfuing also. What I do is I usually go to the arcade with a friend or two, and while one or two of us are playing, the other stands guard and makes sure no ******************* mess up whoever's on. Haven't had any trouble with that strat, but the problem is my friends aren't always available. Oh well, DDR RULES!

I say sure, and i show him how to play, i set him up on easy and we played 3 songs, then he wanted to go again. so we did. Then, he decides to whale his hands all over the place because he just WANTED to hit my in the .......

wow, I've had one bad experience with a little kid (I don't get to go to the arcade that much tough, I am currently trying to get good on my DDR Konamix at home), I believe I was playing beethoven virus, and this little kid probably around 7 ran over the machine, I lost my balance and wound up with a lump on my head and a badly twisted ankle, I muttered "little bastard" a little too loudly and his mom overheard, she started lecturing me and I walked away, I turned around as I was walking away and she gave me that "i am going to KILL!! you" look. And about the skateboard thing, I would probably just beat the guy or kid with his skateboard, I'm only 15, but noone comes near me when I'm angry.

I got sent to the hospital once after one incident. I'm dead serious. And it was like a five year old, too. I had a towel and a water bottle set up by the side, had greeted everyone I knew, and was freestyling to Butterfly Heavy with a friend, all going well and good. We work on a routine a bit, stop, refill water, get a new towel. Everything is set up again. What happens is this- on my second round, a five year old ran up and grabbed my water bottle. My friend kindly stepped off and asked someone else to take over, while he gets my water bottle back- and the five year old kid throws my towel in my face and sprays water on the pads. The other kid was fine, but I slipped and fell, smacking my head against the sharp edge of the pad and catching my leg. I don't know what happened after that, as I was kinda unconcious..but here's what I can gather. 911 was called, I was hospitalized, the kid and the parents were banned from the arcade for life. I was also not allowed to play for a while-a broken ankle will do that. THIS IS THE TRUTH I SWEAR. I have a scar above my left eye. It makes me look funny. Like this. :| :|

Actually, we did sue. Not the arcade, just the people. They lost. We won. It wasn't the arcade's fault. I belive the electric fence around the DDR machine idea is quite actually a very GOOD idea.

The only little kid I've had get up onto the platform with me is my little brother. So I don't really mind him. However my mum usually comes along and tells him to get off, bribing him with tokens to play a different game. I'd like to teach him how to play, but his foot-eye coordination isn't that good yet (he's 7 and has development problems)

I mean, you can excuse a 5 year old, they just don't know any better... but an adult is somebody you'd expect to have a bit of respect.
The worst people of all though are jackasses in the 17-19 year old area. I'm not age stereotyping, but the people who travel in groups and actually forcefully remove you from the pad so they can just jack around? That's the worst, in my opinion... because that's about the age where they're big enough to push you around and young enough to have no kind of inhibition or respect for other people.

I didn't have any kid expierences but I saw something pretty gay happen to my friend. He was playing Maxx Unlimited and then some kid started jumping at the screen and saying "hahahaha you can't see." I grabbed the kid away from the screen and put him on the Para Para Paradise machine. He started trying to bite me so I slapped him and he started to cry. By then my friend had finished Maxx Unlimited so we both ran like crazy cause of what I had done, haha.

I very rarely play DDR at an arcade so i have never had a kid run in front of me. I play at my house on ps2. One time my mom wandered out of her place (the kitchen) and tried to go somewhere where she obviously didnt need to (the bathroom) and walked in front of the screen while I was in the midst of doing Afronova on heavy.
