noob here, wondering why some songs don't have steps, hmm? someone messed up or something?

What version are you playing? If you're playing Resonance, this is a common occurrence, it happens because some songs don't have any steps for the difficulty you're trying to play at I believe (All songs on Resonance are player made and are usually of low quality anyways). If you're not playing Resonance then I'm really not sure.
