Wow, I used to play avoider so much like a year ago when I was bored XD. It just seems like whenever I was getting an insane score the orange guy shot that multicolored ball that gets you no matter what.

As soon as he starts forming a pipe move to the top-left or top-right corner. Works for me.

If you're referring to the triple pipe, move to the bottom-left or bottom-right corner and hope for the best.

Wow, lol. The teleport part is easy, it's when he launches that missile that explodes, then shoots off more things that explode, which shoot off even more stuff that explodes yet again, and I can't seem to figure out how to avoid that.

The multicolor exploding bomb is impossible to avoid. You have to get lucky and hope he does it at the side of the screen. If he does it in the middle you lose. Same with the blue bomb.

for the teleport, you just need to react right when he jumps. Weird how you have difficulty on that when you can do the others with ease

still seems kinda dumb that this isn't FFA. you had a really long sign up period... which will result in a TON of people not submitting at all. and then the people who DO submit, but have an opponent who submits... always struck me as unfair that someone who submitted would get eliminated, while someone who didn't submit at all would still move on (hence why Shash and I are changing all future official tournaments to FFA, and why almost every unofficial tournament is a FFA)

3 Times?! I must've played it at least 50! But I think I finally caught on to this "strategy" being discussed.

Here's is my best and probably final score this round. Survived countless red bombs, 2 green ones and 2 blue ones, but died on a third blue one. After 3000 it seems to get insane and after 4000 all he did was shoot bombs. If this score gets beaten I won't post a higher one as the game takes too long to play to get that high of a score.

And sorry 'bout making you play it again :P

meh. got around 1150 then accidentially went outside the walls and got set to 0 then got 610. woulda been 1700+. next best besides that has been under 800.


EDIT: every single damn time i get between 500 and 600. every time.

For green bombs you hope he shoots it way off to the side, but for blue ones you hope he shoots it right in the middle. First, think of the playing field as a 3x3 grid.

I go to 3 to avoid the initial explosion, then to 6 to avoid the second round, then very quickly to 5, the very center, so the explosions in 1, 7, 9, and 3 don't quite reach you. If he doesn't shoot it in the center you're pretty much screwed though.

FFA means Free For All to me, as in not being paired up against other people, but the worst few in each round get eliminated. I think it means the same thing in the context of an ffr tournament.

buahahahaa. Yeah you gotta go for points. Whenever there's a pause I just hold the spacebar down and make him do a super long lick of doom.

I can usually rack up 7k points in about a minute, and then it gets tricky, with dodging and just trying to save yourself

if you beat this itmorr, i better still advance. running a tournament that isn't FFA when you're playing in it is EXTREMELY F-ING BIASED. you're making the pairings, putting yourself wherever you want. I think after this I'm going to make a tournament rule outlawing a non-FFA tournament host from playing in his tournament. lump/janielle have the same thing... but a little less, as they have rounds and rounds and rounds.

even better.... this run was insane. literally every single thing that fell was in my 300 range, and i licked them all up. i had 12,000 before it even got remotely dark.

i figure, if got 10 runs as lucky as this one, max score would be in the 16k area... maybe low 17k. anything beyond that would take extreme luck, skill, and more luck.

The pairings are all set up by signup date, not randomly. In this case, the second pair didn't submit. All the losers and Moo got put on the bottom in some order because they were kind of like a seperate group.

you's a freak, tass, and lol at t3rr3n. That really does suck though. Exactly what tass said was bad about pairings has happened, with myself and T3RR3N. We both have two of the best 5 scores, and one of us is going to lose, while a person with a much crappier score will get through to the next round.

You have to complete the pipe then get all those anti-piranha plant things to move on to the next level, then you'll be able to start getting points again. If it weren't this way, I'd probably be able to max out the score on the first level lol.

There is a way to tell if scores in this game are legitimate or not. Whenever you get a high score(circled in red), there is always a code indicated below it(circled in blue). Someone could easily forge a screenshot of a score and a code, but by the following method you can determine if it is legitimate.

1. Open mariopac.cfg in any text editor.

2. Replace the score in the cfg file(circled in red) with the score of questioned legitimacy.

3. Enter the digits from the code in the screenshot to replace the digits of the code in the cfg file(circled in blue).

4. Save the cfg file and start up mariopac.

5. If the high score at the game menu is there, the high score is legitimate. If the high score shows as 0000, it's not.

Someone such as itmorr or Tasselfoot could verify scores if they look suspicious. And might I suggest that all posted scores be from the game menu with the code underneath for verification.

Important Note: The 1 at the end of the cfg file isn't part of the code!

Stupid thing happened to me, I had 43,000 on level 2-1, and I ran out of water and landed on the side of the pipe that had no water. So I was trapped

that's what I thought...already proven BS on R1, then gets insanely high scores on all of the games so far, and lies about how far he really got. Seems he doesn't even know how many levels there are in a world, so he just makes one up because nobody's been that far yet.

If he wasn't on vacation right now, I'd ask him what monsters there are in 2-3, or in 3-1, to see if he even got that far, because my guess is you can't get 81k until at least world 3-2.

If you want to *really* hack a score - and it's not hard by the way - then I completely support your moving on to the next round. Just don't try to do some stupid photo editing crap. I'd rather see someone hack it the good way, if it's going to be counted.

You can get 1000s, I've gotten plenty, you just have to kill a ton of enemies in a really short time. Also, don't ask anyone what enemies are in 2-3, unless they're blind, I think they can see my screenshot of it. Itmorr, please don't accept that score. He can just keep cheating at everything if you'll allow that and we might as well all give up, no one can beat a hacker.

Edit: if cheating like that is allowed, then why shouldn't we all do it? Haha, I just beat BemaniChris' score by 100, and I was on level 13-37, and I just kept getting more 1000s.

Maybe I just saw a 100 with another 100 behind it, but I could have sworn I was getting 1000s. And editing the cfg, unless the code is right the score won't work. Beating my score by 100 means you had to guess the right digit in the cfg, but getting the score in the first place would be near impossible by editing the cfg unless you knew what the code for your score was.

And is 3-1 hard?

EDIT: Unless I missed something, I haven't been PROVEN to be bs in R1. Most people think I am, and due to circumstances I've explained, I haven't been able to supply sufficient evidence that I'm not. If it's a guilty until proven innocent system, then I guess I am. But I will prove myself innocent with much better videos with sound. I don't want this to turn into a flame war, but I just wanted to tell you again that I will provide better proof.

Sorry for double post, but there definately are 1000's. I was not imagining it. When you hit tons of monsters within the same time period you can get 1000's. It's easier to do the larger the monsters are.

EDIT: About 2-5: Whatever was 2 worlds after 2-3, I assumed it was called 2-5. I was more concerned with my lives than the name of the world. Also, it definately is possible to get my score. You just have to wait for clusters of monsters to come so you can get 500s and 1000s. And if cheating is actually allowed in this game than you can expect me to get 999999.

I still don't see how someone who's never played FFR before like .12 years ago can just start getting insane scores without speed mods or screenshrink. You're getting scores beyond what anyone was even capable of on FFR 2 years ago, and you can somehow seem to do them all in one try. I'm not going to say you're using slowdown anymore, though, since it would just make things harder to time with fullscreen and no speed mods, but it still doesn't seem believable to me.

Edit: and it wasn't 10 to 4, it was 11 to 4 for some reason. Way too big of a jump, IMO.
