We haven't had a new song in a long time that hasn't been a secret song. Frankly, I think secret songs are contrary to the fun of FFR, because they a) discourage big-wager challenges and b) discourage song purchases.
Let's go over these 2 points in detail.
It's now at the point where you have to have 450+ credits stockpiled to play every song on FFR. This means that for me, I will never issue challenges that could send me below this mark, as I want to keep every song I have. I can't go out on a limb and throw away 300 credits on a game of Secret Zombie Room, because I don't want to lose a bunch of songs. Thus, the secret songs create a definite "safety zone" that many players will not want to leave.
As for purchases: this also means that I won't buy songs until I have enough to buy the new song and not lose the 6-8 songs I already have. I waited until I had about 1300 credits to buy AIM Anthem (a 1000 credit song.) Losing all my secret songs was not worth the purchase of one new song. Also, unless most of the new songs are purchased songs, then what's the point of the credits?
So I suggest converting all existing secret songs into 250-credit purchases and eliminating the Secret genre. This will actually cause people to value their credits more, while (surprisingly) at the same time encouraging people to gamble their credits! I'm sick of having to have a large hoard of credits on hand so I can play secret songs.
