Well, this may be stupid, but I haven't been able to figure it out after months, and no guides have helped me. It's actually rather simple, but I was wondering how to get a certain effect in Shop. It's common when I download simfiles, there are horizantal lines across the image.

Examples below:

Please tell me HOW I get those effects. I CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT!!!

Thanks, say google and be terminated :)

It's easy, just use a scanline pattern and set it to overlay or darken 4%-16% depending on the bg.

Here, I'll get you started.

It's at 640x480 resolution, which is standard for backgrounds in stepmania.

Interesting, I don't think that I would ever have thought to do that. Then again, I have no expierence in this stuff...

And thanks for that, now I can start experimenting.

Make two long vertical lines across the canvas. One white, one black. And then copy and paste, and merge everything.

Here:

Convert that into a Photoshop pattern, then Pattern Fill your canvas on a new Layer. Set the Mode to Overlay/Softlight at a low Opacity.
